Synology, company dedicated to developing NAS products (Network Attached Storage) high performance, has announced the launch of the DiskStation DS413, a NAS server 4 environmentally friendly receptacles, with high performance encryption, and driven by DSM 4.1, and the DX513 expansion unit, offering a high capacity solution, Reliable and eco-friendly for data backup and volume expansion for Synology DiskStation NAS servers.

Synology has launched the DiskStation DS413, a NAS server 4 bays that incorporate the latest technologies to minimize energy consumption. This new storage solution is ideal for small and medium-sized businesses to centralize data backups and synchronize files across different platforms with minimal time and effort.

Jones Tsai, Director of Hardware Design at Synology, has indicated that “Synology DS413 is an emblem of ecological design and innovation, as it offers companies energy-efficient data management solutions”. DS413 server system hibernation mode is unprecedented in the industry. In this mode, the DS413 consumes only 3,3 watts, and can be fully operational again in a few seconds via web access, thanks to the latest technological innovations from Synology. When under system hibernation mode, fans and hard drives also stop, creating a completely silent work environment. Another example of its extraordinary energy-saving design is that the DS413 only consumes 13 watts and 35,6 watts during hibernation of hard drives and fully operational respectively.

The DS413 is one of the first NAS servers to use Freescale Semiconductor's QorIQ Processor platform. With 1GB of RAM, This combination allows you to achieve maximum performance, perform deep sleep power management, and improve multitasking. “The compelling new DS413 highlights Synology's leadership in performance and power efficiency in the NAS market.”, Bernd Lienhard pointed out, vice president and general manager of Freescale's Networking Processor Division. “Freescale is delighted that the QorIQ technology powering the new DS413 NAS server contributes to its impressive capabilities and low power consumption”.

DS413 offers high-performance data encryption from an updated platform, and an AES 256-bit hardware encryption engine, which reaches a read and write speed of 46.81MB/sec and 23.46MB/sec respectively. Unencrypted performance is impressive too, achieving a read and write speed of 111.12MB/sec and 80.86MB/sec respectively, under a RAID configuration 5. In order to ensure optimal uptime, The DS413 incorporates advanced and reliable technology, including a CPU cooling system, two redundant fan systems 92 mm, and hot-swappable hard drives.

Synology DS413 funciona con DiskStation Manager 4.1 (DSM 4.1), the operating system of each Synology DiskStation and RackStation. DSM 4.1 Provides advanced features that increase productivity and simplify your tasks, all in an interface optimized for multitasking.

The storage companion for expansion and backup

Synology has also launched the new expansion unit 5 bays, DX513, a fast, easy-to-use storage solution for select DiskStations with hot-swappable disk design aimed at businesses and power users.

When hard drives on Synology DiskStations reach their capacity limit, DX513 offers an immediate solution by expanding storage with five additional bays. RAID volume expansion can be performed with the compatible DiskStation without having to reformat existing hard drives. This allows for continuous service with the DiskStation attached throughout the storage expansion process.. Besides, The DX513 can work as a good alternative local backup solution if a separate volume was created for the compatible DiskStation.

The DX513 connects to the DiskStation using an eSATA cable with a uniquely designed connection on both ends to ensure maximum reliability. Maximum throughput of 3.0Gb/sec allows the DX513 to operate as a single drive alongside the DiskStation.

DX513 is designed with the same energy efficiency concept as Synology DiskStations: Allows you to configure hibernation mode to automatically wake up when the system has been idle for a period of time. DX513 can also be synchronized with DiskStation power on and off, so no user intervention is required to keep the system running intelligently and efficiently.
