Adhesive Media launches a digital signage platform in taxis
The Adhesive Media Company, based in Newcastle (United Kingdom), has launched in this British city a new advertising network inside taxis that combines digital signage screens, a smartphone app and website.
The CEO of the company Adhesive Media, Richard Baker, has launched The City Portal, an innovative taxi display advertising platform with a free smartphone app and website. Developed together with Sal Sinawi, Jonathan Lawrence y John Roberts, The City Portal uses cutting-edge multimedia screens in taxis, allowing businesses to promote their brand and messages to engage audiences traveling through the city center.
The screens of 8 inches use 3G technology configured to display playlists in order to target specific audiences when they are most likely to be traveling in the taxi, including early morning shoppers, coffee and lunchtime trade, and night visitors heading to bars, restaurants, theaters and movie theaters.
The website offers download of discount vouchers, free online codes, a location finder function, an events calendar and ticket booking option. Free smartphone app also shows local discounts and includes a taxi icon, which can automatically call one of the taxi companies registered on The City Portal. Initially launched in Newcastle, The platform is expected to reach about monthly 110.000 people combining taxi advertising with the web and the app.

Richard Baker has commented on the platform: “I believe that on-screen advertising in taxis provides an ideal medium to promote all that urban life has to offer.. Through the integration of the screens with our website and our app, both visitors and locals can continue to engage with The City Portal after their taxi ride, and discover where the best deals are at any time.”
La agencia de marketing Newcastle Gateshead Initiative (I AM) has been the first to sign up for the initiative, and its executive director, Sarah Stewart, point out about it: “We are delighted to be working with Adhesive Media on this new project. NGI has recently taken over the provision of information to visitors at destination, and this innovative idea fits perfectly with our strategy of providing visitors with information about where they are.”.
