Michael Fonseca, Displax chief business director, has qualified: “Large format displays can run Windows 8 if you use Displax Skin Multitouch, because our touch sensor allows for a completely flat surface and has uniform touch detection across the entire screen, allowing edge sliding and thus addressing Microsoft's concerns regarding hardware”.
“This is what we are used to on our smartphones and tablets, but on large format screens, most hardware requires a frame for optical cameras or infrared sensors to work, so the surface is not flat. That is the reason why Microsoft wants to ensure that the user has a pleasant and comfortable experience across different devices and screen sizes and that depends on the hardware. Displax Skin Multitouch makes the experience possible on large screens”, Fonseca added.
