Projectiondesign immerses visitors in the shuttle Atlantis of the legendary Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral
The Norwegian manufacturer Projectiondesign shows all its expertise in high-performance projection in the new AtlantisSM attraction located in the Kennedy Space visitor center, at Cape Canaveral (Florida - EU).
The space shuttle Atlantis, the new attraction at the Kennedy Space Center visitor center, at Cape Canaveral, “has opened a new chapter in the history of interactive AV design in the entertainment industry”, as those responsible point out.
Open to the public the past 29 June, This innovative attraction has been designed by PGAV Destinations and installed by Electrosonic, who has used F35 high-performance video projectors from Projectiondesign in the pre-show that takes place in the visitor area and in various exhibition rooms so that they can participate and enjoy the aerospace theme.
The history of the attraction of the space shuttle Atlantis dates back to 2010, when Delaware North and PGAV, in collaboration with NASA, designed and launched PGAV Destinations; a company dedicated to the development and design of attractions that, in this case, recreated space and world exploration for the first time.
Now, after a unique and interactive project carried out in four complex development phases, Atlantis visitors can first enjoy a multimedia pre-show, which provides the historical context of the exhibitions you are about to see and surprise experiences.
To carry out this multimedia activity, four Projectiondesign video projectors are used., modelo F35 WQXGA en edge-blended, to create a visually immersive experience for the visitor, with content received on each computer individually via Delta media servers, configured by 7thSense Design.
Besides, sixteen F32 projectors from the Norwegian manufacturer, running at 1920 resolution×1.200 forming groups of four in edge-blended, They are used to add video content to the four “arcs” surrounding the space shuttle shuttle itself..
As Yiannis Cabolis explains, from the Kennedy Space Center visitor center, “Projectiondesign projectors have proven to be extremely reliable and offer the kind of color accuracy and custom installation options we needed when we were designing an immersive project like the space shuttle Atlantis”.
During the new Atlantic attraction, which is located on an area of more than 8.000 square meters and in which one hundred million dollars have been invested (almost 77 million euros), Visitors learn about the incredible history of the space program carried out for this historic ship by NASA more than thirty years ago..
This space trip offers multimedia presentations with more than sixty interactive exhibits, audiovisual simulators, each offering a different and innovative perspective to visitors on the aerospace industry, including the launch and maintenance of the Hubble Space Telescope, as well as the construction of the ISS.
The Atlantis installation “is another example of how our technology provides not only solutions for the developers of this attraction, "but they allow us to break barriers so that people can discover this incredible experience by breaking barriers.", Subraya Maria Dahl Aagaard, product marketing manager en projectiondesign.
