Gefen extends the DisplayPort signal with maximum quality up to thirty meters with two CAT-7 cables
Digital connectivity solutions provider Gefen has developed a DisplayPort signal extender up to a distance of thirty meters with two CAT-7 cables..
The new DisplayPort over CAT-7 extender from The edge allows the installation of a Hi-Def system at a distance of up to 30 meters from a DisplayPort source using two CAT-7 cables.
Gefen DisplayPort Extender Cat7 allows DisplayPort signal extension up to 30 meters with resolutions up to 1,920×1.200 (WUXGA) or 1,080p Full HD over a single CAT-7 cable, and up to 2,560×1.600 (WQXGA) when using two cables of this category.
The receiver unit is powered by the first CAT-7 cable, which extends the DisplayPort signal from the sending unit, eliminating the need for an external power supply on the receiving unit, and has locking power connectors.
This extender significantly improves the reliability of HDCP protocol transmission, EDID and DPCP over long distances, although it does not support audio; It has EQ adjustment by trim-switch for optimal signal quality at a distance.
