Sony 3LCD projection technology is integrated into AV infrastructure at St.. Antonius

The hospital of St. Antonius in the Netherlands has equipped, with the help of Avex, your meeting rooms with the Sony VPL-FHZ55 3LCD laser projector, Cisco video conferencing solution and Creston technology, allowing medical teams to collaborate faster, efficient and reliable.

El St. Antonius is a modern and highly specialized university hospital in the city of Utrecht (Netherlands), known for the treatment of patients with cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases, as well as cancer patients. It has approximately 5.500 workers and 850 beds in its facilities and offers 548.000 annual outpatient clinic appointments.

The new hospital St. Antonius of Utrecht was officially inaugurated on 16 September 2013. At a technical level, the new building, which replaces the Overvecht and Oudenrijn facilities in Utrecht, had to have an adequate team for the future.

The hospital management team was looking for a reliable partner to develop a video systems solution, safe and innovative audio and image, and then integrate it into the existing infrastructure of the hospital. The video conferencing system is especially useful in improving engagement among employees and has become the main element of the technological infrastructure.

3LCD projection technology Sony was a key component of the solution that Avex integrated into the hospital St. Antonius to improve communication between its doctors and its four other locations in the Netherlands. Thanks to the image quality in video conferencing, Specialists can discuss patient profiles and information quickly and efficiently, regardless of where they are.

The main reason why St.. Antonius opted for the Sony 3LCD laser projector was the total operating cost. This cost was considerably better than that offered by a conventional light projector.

While conventional projector lamps must be replaced after a maximum of one thousand hours, VPL-FHZ55 laser light source works, approximately, during 20 000 hours. Besides, Its constant brightness function increases reliability in obtaining more accurate diagnoses in St.. Antonius, since it offers high image quality at all times. The brightness remains 3.000 constant lumens throughout the life cycle (20.000 hours) from laser light source.

Timing of filter replacement cycles (20.000 hours) keep the projector in optimal operating condition and reduce maintenance requirements. Besides, It is possible to instantly turn the laser light source on or off, saving valuable moments at the beginning of a meeting. «If the projector did not reproduce an image, the doctor would be wasting his valuable time.
