Ávila launches the Internet of Things network that Abertis and Sigfox are deploying in Spain
Abertis Telecom is deploying a communications network with Sigfox technology in Spain, which is part of the Internet of Things concept. Ávila has been the first city that has been able to verify the benefits of this technology.
After its launch in France, Netherlands and Russia, Sigfox has introduced its network in Spain and has done so together with Abertis Telecom. Abertis Telecom's extensive network of telecommunications towers has been a key factor in the deployment of this infrastructure, which will be implemented by the operator.
Having this new coverage will allow us to evaluate the improvements in energy efficiency and cost optimization that the implementation of this pioneering solution in Spain in the field of smart cities may entail..
Ávila has been the first Spanish city that has been able to benefit from this communication network equipped with Sigfox technology. The main advantages provided by this solution are materialized, above all, in terms of very low device battery power consumption, as well as viability and economic performance.
Sigfox technology is part of the Internet of Things concept, a communication network with which any element in the field of urban management can be connected, mobility or transportation, home automation in the home, the safety of things and people, the location of people, animals and things, and monitoring people's health.
This technology allows for massive data collection and, through an exhaustive intelligent process, the change of state of these objects and the making of all kinds of decisions in real time. The Internet of Things contributes to improving the quality of life of people or optimizing the business processes of an organization.
