A great Christie video wall, with Kinect technology, welcomes Jerry Falwell to the library

At the beginning of the year, Liberty University opened the Jerry Falwell Library, located in Lynchburg, Virginia. An installation of 170 thousand square meters built with techniques that incorporate innovation and tradition. The library has state-of-the-art technology, diverse learning environments, academic resources and a comfortable space to read. Besides, In this new building, the implementation of a large interactive video wall of 7,3 meters wide by 3,3 wide.
This video wall has been built with 198 MicroTiles Christie and its interactivity is possible thanks to the three sensors Microsoft Kinect and custom-developed software InfoStrat Advanced Technology Group.
Instagram photos of Liberty University students are displayed on this audiovisual wall, as well as your staff, using a set of special hashtags. Library visitors can interact with the screen using gestures to select photos and view additional details, thanks to Kinect technology.
“Kinect feature allows visitors to interact directly on the video wall. This audiovisual element that we have implemented positions us as a modern 21st century library that uses technology to engage students., to allow them to have control over the action that takes place on the display and gives them the opportunity to be creative and innovative”, explains Marcy Pride, Dean of the Jerry Falwell Library at Liberty University.
The university partnered with the company InfoStrat, which was responsible for creating the animations and creating a personalized service that allows the use of three Kinects simultaneously..
“One of our goals for this app was to create an experience that would engage students., with which they could interact, but also that it remained in time, that could be updated and renewed”, comments Joshua Blake, InfoStrat technical director.
