Since its inauguration three years ago, The Heron City shopping center has opted for MediaMatrix solutions for its sound infrastructure and it has once again been the chosen option in the remodeling it has just carried out and where the main challenge was to distribute the audio throughout multiple areas.

Heron City Mediamatrix

Heron City is one of the largest shopping centers in Sweden. Their 46.000 square meters, Located in Huddinge on the outskirts of Stockholm, They were initially inaugurated in 2001 y, from the beginning, It was designed to be an entertainment center rather than simply a large shopping center. Its main attraction is a huge cinema complex made up of 18 salas, the first of its kind in Sweden, with a capacity to 4.000 spectators.

From its origins, has had MediaMatrix solutions from Peavey Commercial Audio, but the original system with AMX needs to be updated, since it was necessary to evenly distribute the sound throughout multiple areas.

This project has been part of a renovation process that involved a strong financial investment and an important part of these resources have been allocated to updating the sound system, which continues to have a MediaMatrix system as its backbone, whose products are distributed in Spain by Reads.

To achieve the required audio distribution, a NION n3 MediaMatrix DSP processor was used., one NION CAB 4o I/O unit and three NION CAB 8o I/O units.

“I have worked with MediaMatrix systems since 1990, and my work has always revolved around them,” says Jorgen Larson of Rvrb, the Peavey distributor in Sweden. “We needed more exits than entrances, since we had to send sound to the garage, the main shopping center, and to several additional areas”.

MediaMatrix DSP NION n3Kiosk2Go control system

When the necessary equipment was specified, The priority for Heron City was to install an easy-to-use control system, configurable and reliable, so Kiosk2Go was chosen, which was released to the market a few weeks before the installation was completed.

“The Kiosk system was very new, and it was very easy to configure. It is possible to control the entire MediaMatrix system with an iPad, bringing an Ethernet cable to the engine room using the wireless LAN. It was simple and the most profitable solution”, explains Larsson.

The installation was completed in early February 2014, and the co-owner of the company, Fredrick Setterberg, He stated that the results have been very positive. “With Kiosk2Go it is possible to control MediaMatrix from any HTML device, which makes things a lot easier. In this project, we can easily distribute background music to a large number of areas, and if in the future we need to expand the system, "We won't have any problems.".
