D&b D20: Four-channel amplifier with DSP power and remote control functions
The four-channel amplifier d&b D20 offers the power of DSP and is an ideal solution for small loudspeakers or systems and applications that do not require very high sound pressure levels.
d&b Audiotechnik has unveiled its new two-rack unit amplifier (2RU) and four D20 channels. It includes proven, intuitive user interfaces and offers fast remote control and monitoring capabilities with responsiveness over Ethernet using the Open Control Architecture protocol (GOOSE).
The D20 amplifier, What a d&b Audiotechnik presented at the last edition of Prolight+Sound held in Frankfurt, It has four independent channels of 1600 Watts, each with two equalizers of 16 belts that offer parametric filters, Notch, Shelving and asymmetrical, and up to 10 seconds of delay. Digital signal processing power (DSP) of the D20 amplifier means no processors are needed for the external system, which reduces the equipment in the signal chain.
The amplifier's intuitive user interface includes a color touchscreen along with a rotary encoder. It is activated with a built-in web interface for use with a browser and can be controlled using the R1 remote control software of d&b v2, running on Windows or Mac. R1 software provides enhanced EQ capabilities that allow EQ to be freely defined and operated via touchscreen or mouse and keyboard.
With four amplifier channels in a lightweight 2RU rig, Rack space required is minimized, both in installations and in mobile applications, and transport costs are also reduced.
The D20 offers all the power and processing needed by the d speaker series&b smaller, such as the E-Series and T-Series. The Y-Series and V-Series can be powered by the D20, but to get the full SPL potential of the speakers, They must be powered by the flagship amplifier of D&b D80. To drive the J-Series and M2 monitors, a D80 amplifier is required.
Thanks to Class D amplifier and switch-mode power supply with active power factor correction (PFC), D20 needs lower input power to deliver greater energy efficiency. The output capacity of the D20 is independent of voltage variations caused by irregular performance electrical sources, so the amplifier can maintain optimal system performance when operating under high load power supply.
