The SMK opts for dnp Ultra Contrast screens for its experimental art exhibition
Dnp Denmark provides nine screens of 50 inches Ultra Contrast for the realization of the experimental art exhibition, ‘What’s Happening?’ which is being held at the National Gallery of Denmark (SMK). In addition, The Epson EB-420 projector has also been used to achieve the visual effects that were sought..
The exhibition 'What is happening?’ (What’s Happening?) which is being held in the National Gallery of Denmark since the past 26 March and that can be visited until 2 August focuses on experimental art made between 1965 y 1975 and that highlights the influence of social changes.
This art gallery, known as Statens Museum for Kunst (SMK) and located in the center of Copenhagen, He needed a visual installation that would allow him to show still and moving images and for this he turned to the company AV Center Copenhagen which opted for the installation of nine Ultra Contrast screens from dnp Denmark.
At first, SMK considered the option of installing a conventional projection system but the quality it offered was not what this institution was looking for.. The challenge for AV Center Copenhagen was to find the solution that best suited this type of facility that uses short throw projections., in an environment with bright ambient light and where visitors are very demanding.
dnp displays offer ultra-affordable contrast, with good brightness uniformity from center to corner and displaying sharp images over a wide viewing area, even in ambient light. However, to satisfy the demanding requirements of this project, dnp had to carry out a custom development. ““We have developed a custom version of our lenticular display using two Fresnel lenses instead of one to achieve a very short focal length and uniform image.”, explica Soren Weis Lindegaard, R&D manager at dnp Denmark.
For the exhibition 'What is happening?’, nine screens have been installed 50 inch dnp Ultra Contrast Screens, which are suspended by cables from the ceiling, and for the projection the EB-420 model of Epson.
“This installation serves as an example of what can be achieved with a combination of displays with dnp technology and will serve as inspiration for other museums around the world.””, concludes Soren Weis.
