A Barco video wall informs Riverside students about sports activities
Barco has provided the technology to design the video wall, composed of 49 KVD OverView LCD Screens 55 inches, that has been installed, with Peerless-AV DS-VW755S mount, at the Riverside University Student Recreation Center.
Californian Riverside University has created a student recreation center (Student Recreation Center), a building designed as a place for leisure and entertainment that offers a wide range of sports activities to students. To complete these installations, support was needed to report events., to share news, that was visually attractive and was in line with the objectives pursued by this educational institution.
To respond to these requirements, Barco worked with the integrator High-Tech Electric y Almo Professional AV to develop a low profile video wall in format 7×7,composed of 49 KVD OverView LCD Screens 55 inches.
For its installation, the DS-VW755S support from Peerless AV with Quick Release mounting solution. To provide the contents, This video wall has a wide variety of tuners Contemporary Research which allows them to transmit 16 channels from a Blu-ray media player Panasonic.
The video wall has a Barco TransForm ECU-110 controller that is responsible for managing video sources and offering the ability to control content remotely through tablets and smartphones., without affecting the university network.
The TransForm ECU-110 includes Barco display control software by default, which can be started from multiple user computers, so operators can create, save or recover instantly. Besides, Fonts can be opened and manipulated on the wall display as expandable windows, without considering the edges of screens.
One of the most significant benefits of this video wall is the remote power supply, which is located in a rack located one hundred meters from the wall to facilitate service. This decreases the heat/charge conversion in the panels themselves. The video wall also includes a redundant power supply in case of failures.
“Riverside University has been the first to use Barco KVD LCD displays with its remote power supply”, comments James Gülke, Project Lead de High-Tech Electric.
Barco's OVD/KVD series have been designed to ensure consistent image quality, even when used in 24-hour applications×7, providing affordable large format video walls. Besides, They are simple modules to operate, thanks to its low energy efficiency and minimal maintenance.
Assembly complications
One of the challenges when launching this installation was the space in which the video wall had to be located.. Many of the components had to be mounted away from the actual wall, using remote power supplies.
To reduce weight and space limitations, power supplies were removed from the displays and rack mounted, as well as media players located in another room Middle Atlantic Products supplied the racks for the project. This resulted in less heat near the screens and less weight on the mounts.
A touch panel Extron Electronics, created in the control room, allows the university to manage the configuration of how content will be displayed on the screens.
Installed about four meters from the ground and with a maximum height of 12 metros, The DS-VW755S Peerless-AV mount has been a crucial component in the success of the installation. The assembly allowed installers to easily align the screens and adjust it.
This Peerless-AV mount allows installers to quickly release each screen to access the back of it. Besides, Allows extension to a negative tilt position for easy wiring.
