Martin's MAC Quantun Profile moving heads light up Enrique Iglesias' 'Sex and Love' tour

The creative director of this tour of the Spanish Latin pop singer, Travis Shirley, has chosen this Martin Professional system as the main element to offer a dynamic show, along with several classic lighting devices from this firm.

Before Enrique Iglesias began his last tour, ‘Sex and Love’, with which he continues touring the main stages of the world), the Spanish Latin pop artist met with Travis Shirley, its creative director and show designer, with the aim that the elements of the show's production were specific but, at the same time, easy to replicate in all destinations.

Shirley's choice to put it into practice, who has made twelve international tours with the singer, has been the signature Martin Professional (whose products it sells Earpro in Spain and Portugal), which in addition to various classic lighting devices, like MAC Quantum Wash, MAC TW1 y MAC Viper Wash DX, has added the new MAC Quantum Profile as a key element.

One of the challenges of this creative director is that 'Sex and Love' is the first tour in which Iglesias has shared the spotlight in some concerts with Pitbull., which entailed designing a show concept with the characteristic style of Enrique Iglesias, but that could be complemented by Pitbull's creative team when necessary. Besides, The geographical scope of the tour made the availability of systems locally a concern.

“The design of Enrique's show -explains Shirley-, carrying fourteen trucks of equipment, It is relatively easy to assemble in Europe and America. Difficulties arise when we do an isolated concert in South Africa, For example, and he expects the same production design and that all equipment is supplied by local companies. This, obviously, it's a lot of work, but it is true that when using Martin systems everything is quite simplified, since they are universal in terms of availability and programming”.

For the 'Sex and Love' tour, which Shirley describes as “a no-frills rock and roll show”, showing the group live is the top priority, for which he made an arch-shaped design. A raised platform in the center of the stage displays Iglesias or certain performers, while the arch itself acts as a shell that covers the band and serves as a truss to hang Martin's lighting elements.

As this creative director explains, “the location of the lighting elements has to be generic to achieve versatility in shows that incorporate the presence of Pitbull, although in the end we ended up opting for a relatively personalized solution. We fix the MAC Quantum Profile to the arch and use video screens above the stage. The different heights and aspects provide dynamic synergy to each show.”.

In this sense, The MAC Quantum Profile systems have been key elements in the production of the tour “since they are valid to emphasize the personal style of Enrique Iglesias and, both, adaptable enough for Pitbull's team and also common enough to be found in the most remote cities on the tour.
