Planar reinforces its presence in the virtual and augmented reality market with NaturalPoint

This acquisition will allow the technologies of both companies to merge and strengthen their presence in areas such as drone tracking., motion sciences, sports performance, animation and immersive applications in Cave environments (Cave Assisted Virtual Environment).

Planar Systems has reached an agreement to acquire the optical motion capture and tracking solutions company NaturalPoint by 125 million dollars. The operation is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of the year or at the beginning of the first quarter of 2017. NaturalPoint will continue to operate as an independent company with its own executive team, clients and market strategy.

The acquisition will allow the fusion of complementary augmented and virtual reality technologies, and increase presence in areas such as drone tracking, motion sciences, sports performance, animation and immersive applications in Cave environments (Cave Assisted Virtual Environment).

NaturalPoint is the creator of the OptiTrack brands, TrackIR y SmartNav. Its headquarters are located in Oregon, very close to where Planar is located, location that will facilitate work with suppliers and allow you to offer better service to your customers.
