AV Stumpfl controls the AV infrastructure of the Tales from Iceland museum
The equipment of this immersive audiovisual installation, that integrates 21 UHD Player, are managed by the Avio show control system.
The local AV specialist, Luxor, has provided the museum Tales from Iceland a UHD audiovisual experience that is managed by the Avio show control system. BY Stumpfl.
This audiovisual infrastructure has 21 UHD Player systems, Stumpfl's professional solid-state AV players, which are integrated into the Avio network to create an immersive experience for visitors to learn the history, the nature and customs of Icelandic society.
All high-resolution content on display offers visitors an eye-opening glimpse of Iceland, that shows the diversity and beauty of this Nordic country. Provides a sensory experience that combines design, technology and the land that surrounds them.
Stumpfl AV players proved to be the ideal solution for this highly visual visitor attraction, since they are designed to work 24×7 and display videos with a resolution of up to 4096×2.160 a 60 fps. This high quality of content allows visitors to explore Iceland through tourist videos and discover more about the country from news that brings the past to life..
The installed AV Stumpfl UHD players play short videos and are synchronized with the 14 screens up to 2,5 meters in diameter (one hundred inches) that are installed in the museum. Frame synchronization via a dedicated protocol is built-in and can be established over an IP network.
The 4K UHD screens are connected to speakers that are mounted on the ceiling, forming a cloud of sound that surrounds visitors.. Possible audio synchronization problems in the exhibition are avoided thanks to the 'freerun-sync' mode, integrated into the UHD Player firmware , which allows videos to start simultaneously and then operate in freerun mode.
“We chose the Stumpfl AV UHD player because we wanted a single, robust system to control the entire museum centrally (audio, video and lighting) y, besides, allows simultaneous synchronization between media players. Avio is equally useful in this application and allows us a very good and flexible overview of all our equipment in a cost-effective way.”, explain Rafn Rafnsson, technical director of Tales from Iceland.
Avio is a decentralized solution developed for audiovisual installations, that connects devices through an easy-to-use drag-and-drop mechanism. It is designed so that if a device on the network crashes, only affected connections are interrupted, meaning there is no impact on the system as a whole.
All UHD Player systems and content are managed at the museum using Avio by AV Stumpfl; an ioBox Relay turns the building on and off as a night mode option, while a remote control can be used to activate parts of the installation.
The ceiling LED strips are managed by IObox DMX controls . Avio enables building automation, scheduling through a calendar, audio control and third-party device integration.
“Iceland has a strong design tradition and this inspired our approach to deliver a stunning exhibition that uses technology to highlight the world around us.. When using UHD Player systems and other AV Stumpfl solutions, we can show visitors the diversity and beauty of the country. “We have connected this technology through Avio to bring Iceland to life and have used lighting technology to make it resemble the Northern Lights.”, concluded Rafnsson.
