Yamaha completes its line of DXS powered subwoofers
DXS15mkII and DXS12mkII offer improved performance and higher peak SPL from a more powerful amplifier, as well as an extended low frequency response.
Yamaha has expanded the DXS powered subwoofer series with the DXS15mkII and DXS12mkII models, that offer improved performance, with respect to the previous DXS15 and DXS12, and higher maximum SPL from a more powerful amplifier, as well as an extended low frequency response.
The DXS series was originally developed to complement the DSR series full power loudspeakers., DXR and DBR and provide a more rounded sound, especially for setups that need very powerful low frequencies, but well defined.
The new DXS15mkII and DXS12mkII are updated models of the current DXS15 and DXS12 subwoofers that have adopted technologies developed for the DXS18, which has proven to be a very popular option in venues and clubs, as well as in temporary applications such as outdoor music events or parties.
Both devices have an improved 1020W Class D amplifier and a 100W woofer. 15 o 12 inches, Housed in a stronger chipboard bandpass type enclosure. Capable of delivering 3dB higher SPL and 5Hz lower than its predecessors, The DXS15mkII can provide a maximum SPL of 135 dB and an extended LF response up to 40Hz, while the DXS12mkII can produce 134 dB SPL and reach up to 42Hz with optimal clarity and minimal distortion.
The new models have DSP technology, Yamaha's patented original D-XSUB, for additional control of the low frequency range via two selectable modes (BOOST y XTENDED LF), as well as a selectable crossover with three different options (80/100/120Hz) for various applications. For larger applications, that use two or more subwoofers, The DXSmkII offers a 'Cardioid Mode' setting that effectively reduces the SPL of the bass reaching the stage while increasing the bass levels aimed at the audience.
The DXS15mkII and DXS12mkII, Developed with extensive touring and transportation use in mind, feature advanced protection circuitry in the speaker unit, amplifier and power supply ensuring optimal reliability and longer component life. Durable chipboard enclosure is coated with a highly durable Polyurea finish used in disaster protection applications, providing the exterior of the speaker with additional protection against exposure to external elements and damage during transport and use.
For greater portability and versatility than the current range, The new models are more compact and lighter, with a weight reduction in the DXS15mkII and DXS12mkII models of 2 y 3 kilos, respectively. They also come equipped with M20 anchor points and 35 mm allowing for more flexible mounting options, as well as an optional wheel kit for more efficient portability and assembly.
Yamaha also offers optional speaker covers with a functional design that provides additional protection against unfavorable weather conditions during outdoor performances., storage in dirty and dusty premises, or the rigors of road transport.
