Tech Data has started its IoT in Madrid at Wheels Roadshow 2018. An event in which the wholesaler seeks to show the power of a connected ecosystem and how to offer networking opportunities to partners and suppliers.
For the realization of this eight-week Roadshow, Tech Data has the support of different technology providers such as Cisco, Microsoft, Schneider y Vodafone.
As already mentioned in Digital AV Magazine, between April and June, The Tech Data bus will visit nine cities in five countries across Europe to show how the wholesaler can help manufacturers incorporate IoT solutions into their services and deliver innovative business outcomes for their end customers in the retail sectors., transportation and logistics, smart spaces and manufacturing.
“Through the IoT on Wheels Roadshow, we want to create a unique experience for our partners and show how to make IoT easy to understand, implement and sell. It is a great opportunity for organizations to bring together the world of IT and operations. “Those who can provide relevant business information by connecting the physical world with the digital world will gain a significant advantage.”, explains Abel Smit, director de IoT Consulting & Customer Success en Tech Data Europa.
During the event held at the Palace of the Dukes of Pastrana, and that kicked off this IoT on Wheels Roadshow 2018, Attendees have had the opportunity to visit the vehicle shown as 'the IoT Solutions factory'.
The vehicle is divided into five areas. In the first, Visitors can learn about an intelligent mechanism that speeds up traffic flows, optimize time and reduce emissions and fuel costs. Once inside the vehicle, real business results that can be achieved with the help of IoT are shown.
The Roadshow bus has tracking sensors that, through telemetry, provide real-time information about the location and other specific data such as engine data., load, etc. This not only helps to try to avoid possible problems, but also offers a world of possibilities in terms of security, optimization and revenue streams.
In the customer area it is explained how a refrigerator connected with these smart sensors allows you to control different parameters - the cold chain or the products that are running out.- and how lights can be controlled through an intelligent collaborative environment, heating or space optimization.
In the center of the vehicle, Tech Data's IoT team shows how they architect an IoT solution and predict asset maintenance.
Y, finally, in the 'stock' area, Visitors learn about a use case about the supply chain of any factory or workshop.
