After the accident that flooded the premises, all damaged amplifiers were replaced with Ashly NX series equipment, installed a Symetrix Radius 12x8 DSP with output expanders and completed wiring and configuration.

Symetrix DSP The Siren

Opened in February 2016, The Mermaid is a leisure space that has a prominent location on the Plaza Level of the Maritime Hotel in the Chelsea district..

This place offers a large bar that connects two different dining rooms, each of which has capacity for one hundred people; while the adjacent outer courtyard admits other 200 customers. Upstairs there are two rooms for events of more than 914 square meters, each with private entrances from street level and a retractable roof for outdoor dining.

The first sound system installed at La Sirena failed to satisfy the restaurant's requirements and after an accident that damaged important elements of the system, It was decided to undertake a complete replacement of the equipment. Management turned to systems integrator AV Essential Communications from East Hanover (New Jersey). The option chosen was a Symetrix Radius DSP.

Retaining existing ceiling speakers, Essential Communications team replaced all damaged amplifiers with Ashly NX series equipment. Installed a Symetrix Radius 12x8 DSP with output expanders and completed the wiring and configuration.

“The challenge was how to distribute multiple audio programs in each dining area and different fountains to the various private event spaces.. We decided to go with Dante, which is one reason we chose a Symetrix radio. But there was no duct and we couldn't open walls, so we couldn't run Cat6 anymore. Fortunately, we discovered fiber between two headers and Cat6 spares between the second and third headers and created a distributed Dante hybrid system with the new switches, interconnected with fiber. We eliminate most of the 15 original Sonos Connect players, maintaining four as playback sources for guests to use in each area”, explains David Schwartz, presidente de Essential Communications.

Schwartz's team outfitted the main header with a Symetrix Radius 12x8 EX, an analog output card 4 channels and an xOut output expander 12 , for a 12x24 base system. The second header uses an xOut 12, while the third uses a 4×4 Prism.
