MIRA Digital Arts Festival presents immersive projects in fulldome format for this year's edition

The 360º stage of the festival, MIRA Dome by adidas Originals, will feature the world premiere in dome format of the audiovisual show Antarctic Takt, four pieces of video art in 360º format, a workshop on how to create immersive experiences in a 360º dome and a master class on visual narratives in fulldome format.

MIRA Digital Arts Festival, which will be celebrated from 8 al 10 November in Barcelona, has announced the program for MIRA Dome by adidas Originals, the 360º dome dedicated to immersive projects in fulldome format.

The dome, installed in the courtyard of the Creation Factory – Fabra i Coats and co-produced by Eyesberg Studio with the technological support of Smode Studio, will host an audiovisual show (composed of a projection of four pieces of video art in 360º format), a workshop and a masterclass that will discuss how to create immersive experiences in an immersive format.

MIRA's 360º stage will make its world premiere Antarctic Takt, an audiovisual show that proposes an abstract journey to Antarctica. It has been created by the Russian musician Dasha Rush in collaboration with visual artist Stanislav Glaszov.

360º video art

MIRA Dome by adidas Originals will also offer the projection of four pieces of video art in 360º format: Extraordinary Alien, Eye of the Dream, Contemporary Hardcore y Spectrum of the Coral.

Music producer Fatima Al Qadiri, with studio visuals Transform will present Extraordinary Alien, a piece that aims to create extraterrestrial environments with the aim of highlighting the qualities of science fiction in earthly objects; while Eye of the Dream of David O’Reilly is a piece that explores fractal geometry.

Both immersive pieces are part of The New Infinity program of Berliner Festspiele/Immersion and the Hamburg Planetarium.

The program will run until 2020 y, in addition to presentations in Germany, will go on tour in the United States in the summer of 2019 with the support of the Goethe Institut.

Contemporary Hardcore of Konx-om-im-Pax, It is the third piece of video art in 360º format that will premiere at MIRA 2018. It is inspired by the hardcore morning atmosphere and the traces of the previous night's delirium..

Finally, Spectrum of the Coral of Fragmatista is a piece co-commissioned with Zaiba Jabbar, founder of Hervision platform. This shows an immersive space, from a surreal world of digitized landscapes, where the artist experiments with 3D scanning and sculptures in virtual reality in real time.

Workshops and workshops

MIRA 2018 in collaboration with Fiuhouse, Eyesberg y Telenoika, and with the sponsorship of adidas Originals, organiza ‘The mastery of immersion’, a workshop focused on the creation of narrative content for fulldome 360º and the introduction and application of the Smode Studio software, a tool that allows you to work in an agile way thanks to its architecture.

El workshop, which will be celebrated from 29 from October to 6 November, It will consist of a theoretical part at the headquarters of the Telenoika and Fiuhouse association, and a practical part in the MIRA Dome by adidas Originals.

Besides, MIRA 2018 will also feature a masterclass on creating content for dome 360º with a focus on visual storytelling. The master class, which will take place on Wednesday 7 November at MIRA Dome by adidas Originals, It will feature several examples of storytelling and the different possibilities to transform it into an immersive experience with the help of the visual artist and musician Konx-om-Pax and the creative director of Eyesberg Studio, José Valiña.
