Fujifilm Z5000 makes global debut at 'Porto Legends' immersive screening
Made by videomapping specialist Ocubo, This show about the legends of the Portuguese city of Porto has been the first to use the new Fujifilm Z5000 projector worldwide, promoted from the Iberian subsidiary.
Porto Legends. The Underground Experience It is an immersive audiovisual show, carried out in the Alfândega of Porto by the Portuguese creative studio and specialist in videomapping projects Occubus, for which fifty high-brightness projectors are used, of which forty correspond to the new Z5000 equipment from Fujifilm.
This project pays tribute to the culture and history of the city and the Northern region., through the research of historian Joel Cleto in his book Legends of Porto, that Ocubo has transferred to the image under the artistic direction of Nuno Maya.
The result is an immersive visual experience of ten legends that combine mystery, reality and magic around the history of Porto through filming of actors, 2D and 3D graphic animations, music and voices for its narration by actor Jeremy Iron (in the English version) and the Portuguese composer and musician Pedro Abrunhosa (in the local version).
One of the challenges of the project was the installation itself., since Furnas da Alfândega is a unique space in stone and vaulted ceiling, with numerous columns, arches and tunnels to create that total immersion with the viewer, with videomapping on the walls, the floor and ceilings for which twenty high-definition projectors and an equal number of holographic screens have been used to create the effect of 360º immersion and mystery.
As those responsible have pointed out, Part of the proceeds from this audiovisual show will be used to purchase equipment for the pediatric area of the São João Hospital in Porto..
Two-axis rotating and folding lens
Of the fifty projectors used to create this immersive experience, forty correspond to the Fujifilm Z5000 model, that offers 5.000 lumens and whose innovation, pioneer and unique so far on the market, is that it integrates a flexible two-axis rotating and folding lens, that can be rotated up, below, left and right, without rotating the main body and projecting in all directions.
Fujifilm Z5000 makes it easy to project digital signals onto 100 inches at a distance of only 75cm, thanks to its ultra short focus lens, with projection ratio TR of 0,34, which can be expanded to achieve an image of up to 300” (more details in Digital AV).
Fujifilm's Optical Devices division in Iberia has been in charge of supplying the elements for the projection systems.
