Samsung QLED 8K

Samsung Electronics has signed an agreement with 8K Association (8THE) to launch the first global certification program for 8K TVs. This agreement represents a milestone for its QLED 8K televisions, since they will be among the first certified by this organization.

“We are proud to be founding members of the 8K Association and equip our new range of QLED 8K TVs with the technology necessary to receive this certification”, comments Hyogun Lee, executive vice president de Visual Display Business de Samsung Electronics.

The 8KA Certification Program seeks to differentiate televisions with four times more pixels than the 4K television standard, with greater clarity, contrast, color and greater dynamic range performance (HDR).

The requirements of this certification are that televisions have a resolution of 7,680×4.320, brightness higher than 600 nits, HDMI 2.1, as well as high-efficiency video encoding (HVEC).

The 8KA association is increasing efforts to launch educational programs that promote participation, innovation and content development within the 8K ecosystem, among his associates.

In addition to expanding into different industries, 8KA will create promotional activities for this industry, through demonstrations that expose the latest generation technology in these equipment, new productions, delivery options and viewing devices.
