Audio-Technica Creates Permanent Reflection-Free Genelec Monitor Demo Room
Zero Reflections Space, What is this innovative room called?, allows sound technicians to fully appreciate the sound qualities of The Ones monitors 8361A and from the W371A adaptive woofer from the audio multinational.
Located in the facilities of Audio-Technica Iberia, in the Sala TAF from Arroyomolinos (Madrid), Zero Reflections Space is the demonstration room that this company has prepared, in an environment free of reflections, to appreciate the sound qualities of The Ones 8361A monitors and the W371A adaptive woofer from Genelec.
En Zero Reflections Space, Sound technicians from recording and broadcast studios have the possibility of quietly attending to listen to their favorite songs., or the audio program selected by Audio-Technica, and discover the advantages of these coaxial monitors working together with the adaptive bass system.
Roberto Lopez, brand manager of broadcast and studios at Audio-Technica Iberia, is responsible for serving and demonstrating to professionals the multiple possibilities of these systems when they work together, especially the W371A adaptive woofer system.
This equipment allows you to obtain an extremely flat response in different types of space., without the need for expensive acoustic treatments or bass traps. This results in better management of directivity thanks to its three working modes: complementary, continuous directivity or anti-reflection.
The Ones 8361A SAM coaxial monitors 3 pathways offer optimal control of DCW directivity, with a completely neutral sound inside the axis and very little colored outside of it, maintaining very high performance in SPL, with analog and AES/EBU connectivity.
The Ones 8361A SAM
This self-powered coaxial monitor 3 10” way delivers the most advanced acoustic performance of any studio monitor manufactured to date. Delivering an exceptionally wide dynamic range, as well as its directionality and sound image and an SPL of 118 dB, Provides top-quality monitoring at any listening distance (until 5 metros), ideal for small or medium sized rooms.
Incorporates two acoustically hidden woofers, newly designed, generating high SPL with exceptionally low distortion and new MDC coaxial drivers for mids and highs to provide smooth directivity, low distortion, high SPL and a wide frequency response that reaches 40 kHz.
El recinto Minimum Diffraction Enclosure del 8361 removes coloration. And the entire front baffle acts as a directivity control waveguide., generating an extremely wide listening point without coloration.
Like all models in The Ones series, Genelec 8361 facilitates faster and more consistent decision making, as well as working reliably in longer sessions, since unnatural images (the main factor contributing to hearing fatigue) are minimized.
When used in combination with GLM calibration software, can adapt to any acoustic space, compensating for all the negative factors introduced by the acoustics of the room, as well as helping to produce reliable mixes, from stereo to very complex immersive formats.
The system 8361 includes MDC technology (Minimum diffraction coaxial); DCWW (Directivity control waveguide); ACW (Acoustically concealed woofers); ISS (Intelligent signal sensing), protection circuits, Optimized amplification and is compatible with ISO-Pod mounts.
The Ones W371A SAM
This 14” self-powered adaptive bass + 12” by Genelec is described as a revolution in bass reproduction, as it definitively eliminates negative room influences on bass reproduction.
The W371A SAM model has been designed to perfectly complement monitors 8341, 8351 y 8361 from the series The Ones and, together with these models, create a series of full-range monitoring solutions capable of delivering unprecedented neutrality, and maximum levels of control over the directionality and effects of room acoustics.
for the first time, A studio can have all the benefits of a main monitor but with the freedom to place this independent system in the optimal position within the control room. Besides, offers the ability to switch between nearfield and main monitor, no image shifting.
Incorporates two high-performance woofers: one facing forward and one facing backward, and features a wide palette of new ways to tailor system performance to the room in the four lowest critical octaves, delivering a flatter, more uniform in-room frequency response with more coherent LF imaging.
Genelec W371A uses GLM software to select and optimize signal processing to obtain the best bass radiation mode, taking into account both the location of the monitor and the listening position.
Also serves as a stand for The Ones three-way monitors, for perfect integration. Combined with W371A they offer three different modes of low frequency radiation inside the room: complementary, continuous directivity and anti-reflection.
All of them allow the user to choose between a flat and neutral LF response, avoiding 'acoustic cuts', with continuous directivity of the main monitor down to the lowest LF frequencies, or reducing harmful reflections on walls, ceiling or floor of the room.
