Robe's Led technology is deployed in the new Zuidplein Theater in Rotterdam

This modern cultural center, located in Holland, It is one of the first in the world to not have light regulators.

More than two hundred LED systems Robe have been installed in the new Theater Zuidplein from Rotterdam (Netherlands – Netherlands), including T1 Profiles models, Spider, LedBeam 150s y ParFect 150s, as part of the lighting equipment 100% Led.

El Teatro Zuidplein, designed by architects The Black Dog, is destined to become the reference cultural center of the dynamic district of Rotterdam-Zuid (On), offering a varied multi-genre work program, which includes dance, theater, music, concerts, youth theater, festivals, …to reach all sectors of the community.

This cultural space has two auditoriums, one with capacity 1.000 personas (standing) y 600 sitting, plus a smaller flex space - Room Z- which is located at the entrance, to which is added a branch of the Rotterdam library and a cafe/restaurant.

The lighting specifications were defined by the theater consulting firm Theateradvies b.v. from Amsterdam, together with the Belgian company Controllux and distributor of Robe Benelux, as the winner of the tender to supply the LED lighting fixtures and the data and electrical energy distribution systems related to the project, coordinator Kuno van Velzen.

In the old theater building they had been using Robe luminaires for some time, specifically its first systems, some 250 wash XT y 575 spots are of the year 2004 y, sixteen years later they were still working.

three years ago, those responsible for Zuidplein invested in some wash of Led Spiider and in DL4S profiles, which have also now moved to the new theater building, for which a central lighting scheme of an LED system was designed, with a multi-color mixing system, in which Robe's T1 model fit perfectly.

Added to this is its shine, high CRI, super smooth regulation, DataSwatch filters, and color correction from 2,700K to 8,000K, among other features, all essential tools for application in theatrical or stage lighting, in addition to its practically silent operation.

For this project, 48 of the T1 models installed correspond to the Profile version with precise framing shutters, to which ten more are added in the PC version, that offer a precise system of barndoor internal rotating +/- 90º (individually controlled), a zoom of 7 at 50º and a beamformer.

The additional Spiiders were an obvious choice, especially after the positive experience of those who already had, so the thirteen original units moved to the new building have been joined by another twenty-four.

The small and practical LedBeam luminaire 150 is proving to fit in all types of venues and lighting equipment, which makes it ideal for a multipurpose space like this theater, which has 64 units that are distributed between the different performance spaces, as needed.

Matching LedBeam systems 150 are the 76 ParFect 150, which is essentially the same fixture and light engine in a static housing that is very affordable. The luminaires are controlled with five consoles ETC Gio @5, also supplied by Controllux.

The equipment was purchased by Rotterdam City Hall near the Teatro Zuidplein, What if the COVID-19 pandemic does not continue to advance?, will reopen its doors at the end of 2020.
