Poly helps Télécom Paris on its journey towards digital transformation
Its collaboration technology has allowed this higher education institution to foster a culture of hybrid learning so that students can access, regardless of your location.
To embark on this adventure, This higher education institution has installed a complete infrastructure, integrated by video conferencing solutions, cameras, microphones and phones, which has allowed it to adapt to the new hybrid education systems.
Telecom Paris It is one of the leading French higher education institutions, a school of the Institut Mines- Telecom (IMT) and a founding member of the Paris Polytechnic Institute. In 2019, moved to a new and complex building 46.000 square meters on the IMT campus in Saclay, near paris, and the school continued to offer distance learning to international students based in China, Japan, Russia and Senegal, inter alia.
When you embarked on a digital transformation journey to connect students and staff, regardless of location and betting on hybrid learning, The technology chosen was Poly.
Con 1.350 students and 600 employees, The challenge of Télécom Paris' digital transformation was twofold: connect students and staff within the large campus building; as well as international students and local remote staff.
Exaprobe, French Poly distributor, implemented a wide range of unified communications solutions (CU) at Télécom Paris facilities to achieve the best level of staff collaboration and offer the flexibility of hybrid learning experiences to all students.
Focused on finding an interoperable collaboration solution that could integrate with the rest of the technology used at the institute. It was important that the digital transformation project did not pose any technical setbacks for online classes, course assignment assignment and administrative staff meetings.
To connect the red of Télécom Paris, of staff and students based on and off the Saclay campus, Poly Group videoconferencing systems have been used 500 for smaller rooms and spaces, while the Group line 700, with a cascaded array of Poly EagleEye Director cameras, equip the largest spaces, like boardrooms and auditoriums.
This infrastructure also has other Poly solutions such as the touch screen controller to manage RealPresence Touch video conferencing; the Ceiling microphone, and Soundstation IP phone 7000.
Present and future
The infrastructure implemented has allowed Télécom Paris to be prepared to face COVID-19 and to continue teaching classes, first online and then , when restrictions were lifted, in a combination of hybrid education (face-to-face and non-face-to-face classes).
Classes have been taught with less than half of the students on site and the rest remotely, true hybrid learning in action. Institute staff also adopted a hybrid work approach to meetings, in which face-to-face and non-face-to-face participation were combined.
After the results obtained, The implementation of Poly solutions continues in the network of IMT institutes, which has now expanded to the Lille and Douai locations.
