Power Visionary TSH audio

The PacketAV Matrix series of Visionary has been chosen by TSH Audio & video to distribute critical data in the network operations centre of this New Zealand gas and electricity distributor.

PowerCo is the company responsible for providing dedicated resources to about 1,1 millions of customers in 452.000 New Zealand households and businesses, that has long been committed to an increasingly secure energy supply, reliable and efficient.

With some 480 employees distributed in four different locations, New Plymouth, Palmerston North, Wellington and Tauranga, the company has chosen the specialist TSH Audio & video for advice, design and installation of your new Network Operations Center.

This space consists of three work areas, separated by glass slides, in which control room operations are performed, customer service and switch monitoring, control and data acquisition equipment (Scada) and the address of the network operations center (Noc).

As responsible for keeping the lights on and gas flowing throughout New Zealand, PowerCo receives and sends large amounts of data from this new Network Operations Center to provide power to its customers, as well as respond quickly in case the supply is interrupted.

As a mission-critical environment, the center has been equipped with advanced and reliable technology. The idea development room, created to improve PowerCo's response protocol to network-damaging incidents, has a videowall, configured with six screens, which is provided with information to identify the zones of interruption and data from the Scada, which is complemented by other smaller videowall and screens located in adjacent areas.

“The project required the distribution of video signals in different locations within the Network Operations Center. Neil Penno, director of TSH-. In addition to simple video distribution, full support of KVM to facilitate the control of the PCs when the videowall is displayed”.

While PowerCo had an existing network infrastructure this center, it was necessary to deploy “a flexible and versatile system that would allow us to work on your network infrastructure. We select the series PacketAV Matrix of Visionary to achieve that functionality, which allowed us to use standard structured cabling and Ethernet switches, while eliminating the need for specialized cabling and video arrays”.

This configuration performed by TSH, “provides unlimited expandability for future additions. It was important to have ultra-low latency because we are transmitting mission-critical data.. Visionary's PacketAV Matrix series provides a ultra-low latency to meet the requirements of our project”, Adds.

As the exclusive distributor of Visionary in New Zealand, NSL has provided to TSH Audio & Video equipment and support. The project included the installation of the video screens in the control room and the ideas room..

The first has a videowall of 2×2, with four additional screens, and the ideas room with another in configuration 6×2. Visionary's PacketAV decoder is paired with each display to feed a reliable signal and perform video processing for the video wall. Eight PacketAV encoders have been installed to provide video and USB signal input for KVM functionality.

Visionary's PacketAV Matrix series is combined with the processor Q-SYS of QSC to control the power of the display, video and audio routing and volume control. “The combination of Visionary's PacketAV Matrix series with this system allowed us to offer a flexible and intuitive system, says Penno.. We can quickly and cost-effectively add additional displays or video inputs as PowerCo requirements change, eliminating new cable lines”.

Visionary PacketAV's Matrix series seamlessly integrated with Q-SYS platform. “Using QSC touchscreens with live video thumbnails creates a simplified user experience, with instant information by displaying each available video source”, Says.

The encoders and decoders of the series PacketAV Matrix 4K UHD over IP Visionary redefine traditional switching matrix systems to create a flexible solution, scalable and cinematic quality for IP networks.

PacketAV endpoints offer ultra-low latency, with unlimited distribution capabilities. Using existing network resources, encoders and set-top boxes can be deployed quickly to deliver cost-effective multi-channel audio and video distribution Dante/AES67 over IP.
