Obradiro Vision'The pilot project uses virtual reality Vision, company of Mediapro Group, and 5G technology Orange y Ericsson to see the Plaza del Obradoiro in real time and from anywhere in the world with VR glasses.

Monumental center of Santiago de Compostela and one of the world's leading tourist destinations, the Obradoiro square stars in the pilot project carried out for the council of this Galician city in order to demonstrate how 5G technology opens the doors to new avenues of tourism development.

Specifically, through 5G technologies and virtual reality This project allows users who want to see the Plaza del Obradoiro in real time and from anywhere in the world with the help of VR glasses.

On the one hand, the catalan company Vision has installed a 180º camera in the Santiago de Compostela City Council that covers the square in real time. With virtual reality glasses, and thanks to 5G technology, Anyone can see what is happening live in this monumental space and obtain information about the different enclaves of the place..

The project, which has received funding from 23 million euros and the collaboration of forty entities, is part of the Plan Galicia 5G, which already has thirty test cases with this technology.

Besides, This pilot experience also adds a mobile application and Visyon tablets with which tourists, guides or citizens can interact with their devices as they tour the square, based on the projection of augmented reality content using the super broadband associated with 5G, with which large amounts of information can be downloaded at high speed and interact virtually and in real time due to the low latency of the technology.

A similar project, also developed by the companies Visyon and Orange, was recently held in Valencia (more details in Digital AV).
