This historic New York art space has been revitalized with sound and lighting solutions from JBL Pro, controlled with Crestron, according to the project integrated by Avn|SYS.

the Harlem School of the Arts (HSA) is a crucial community space for education and arts activity in Harlem's historic neighborhood. After receiving a generous donation from the Herb Alpert Foundation, its leaders undertook an ambitious renovation, Called The renaissance project, as a way to revitalize the main spaces of action and the key infrastructures of the installation.

To ensure the space continued to inspire and serve Harlem's next generation of artists and performers, the HSA team hired the services of the audiovisual integration specialist Avn|SYS to install crucial sound reinforcement and lighting updates, for which the technology of JBL Professional.

The key to this change of HSA was the transformation of its lobby into a multifaceted performance space to showcase the wide range of musical disciplines., of dance and performing arts that the school defends.

"We think a lot about different usage scenarios when we design the space., in order to provide HSA with the flexibility to present an extremely wide range of performances without requiring a large production support team, that we have achieved with our partner AVN|SYS", Explains Joshua Morris, WSDG Partner and Chief Operating Officer.

The main lobby and the performance area of HSA have an integrated sound reinforcement system, operated from a control system Crestron. specifically, the AVN team|SYS opted for the installation of line array ATX A8 by JBL Professional, custom-mounted on the roof for optimal coverage, and subwoofers B18 for bass.

In addition to installing the audiovisual equipment, Avn|SYS has also collaborated in this project with the manufacturer Elation to create a custom lighting of space, that allows HSA event managers to create and control an infinite variation of environments and lighting schemes to accommodate the plethora of performing arts programs they offer.
