Curated by the studio Morgancrea, The exhibition 'Imagine a Festival' has paid tribute to the seventy years of the San Sebastian film festival with different AV installations in the building Tobacco, configured with twenty-eight projections and twenty synchronized screens.

The recently completed 70th edition of the San Sebastian Festival (Seam), has counted during the summer period (of the 4 from July to 24 September) with the exhibition tribute to his career in the International Center of Contemporary Culture-Tabakalera, in collaboration with the San Sebastian City Council and the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa.

The sample Imagine a Festival, curated by the studio Morgancrea, It has been a tribute to the film industry and the main milestones in the history of the San Sebastian contest; to the projection rooms; to the media; to the city itself and to the public that, edition after edition, fills the rooms.

Presented “as a collective work in which all people are protagonists”, according to the idea of Carlos Rodriguez y Asun Lasarte, by Morgancrea, The exhibition has been configured in different audiovisual installations, through twenty screens and twenty-eight synchronized projections to show hundreds of videos, con more than 150 minutes of content.

Follow the red carpet

Present at the San Sebastián Festival since its beginnings, the red carpet has been the guide of this exhibition, under the design of Julen Cano, art director and graphic designer of the show, with execution and assembly by PrintFactoria Graphica.

In total, have been used more than 200 meters of red carpet, suspended over the heads of those visiting the exhibition, marked a path that could be traveled in various ways in the Tabakalera building.

Public and media

Located in the plant 0 and dedicated to the public, This installation was configured with eight synchronized monitors to show the atmosphere in the streets and cinemas in the different editions of the contest, along with 650 photographs that citizens expressly sent to the exhibition in response to a public call.

In recognition of the media, fundamental for the international dissemination of the SSIFF and the preservation of its audiovisual memory, An installation was designed as a 'digital magazine' on the first floor with two 98” vertical monitors, with resolution 4K, to show in seventy digital pages a selection of interviews and moments to better understand the history of the festival.

Also on the first floor, visitors have had the opportunity to walk a red carpet parallel to a large screen, of 24×4 metros, in which images of eight hundred artists who have visited the event during these seven decades were shown.

Five synchronized projectors supplied by the company Audiovisual Lasers, each with a power of 12.000 lumens, They were in charge of launching the contents on the screen chronologically, so that, located at a certain distance, the public could see Audrey Hepburn and Jessica Chastain simultaneously; Alfred Hitchcock y Quentin Tarantino, Harrison Ford y Brad Pitt, and more.

At the bottom of the red carpet, a curtain gave access to a simulated movie theater, configured with thirteen screens and synchronized with players BrightSign, to showcase the most iconic moments in the festival's history, creating transitions and visual games reproduced simultaneously in the same.

Specifically, three of the screens showed the great moments of the seventy years of the contest: from the massive receptions for Sophia Loren, Liz Taylor, Bette Davis, Denzel Washington, Bradley Cooper o John Travolta, until the premiere of Star Wars or Penélope Cruz's surprise before receiving her Donostia Award from Bono, U2 singer.
