Arjen Bijtelaar is the stage director, specialized in lighting and has worked for this venue since 2006 -even at the Lucent Danstheater before its demolition- and explains that the original tender was for LED luminaires that offered full control of the white and multicolor color.
The place already had a good experience with Robe, as one of the first in the country to invest in the DL7 series in 2016. This was for him theater Zuiderstrand in the Port of Scheveningen (The Hague), that operated during the construction period. Here, the company achieved another milestone as the first cultural institution in Benelux to have Robe's T1 Profile.
When the Amare construction project began, T2 had not yet been developed, so the initial specification was for 86 Profiles T1. However, after moving to the new facilities last year, Some additional funds were available with which to purchase the T2s and the ParFects.
The requirement was lighting that would serve both the concert hall and the stage., for all dance genres, in addition to theater and concerts.
Of the 30 T2, eight are used for the FOH of the concert hall, with four in one of the bars on the stage, and the 18 remaining fixtures are in the theater, at FOH and in some of the side positions. The additional power of the Profile T2 made it perfect for work and launching 30 meters from the FOH positions to the stage.
The additional intensity of the Profile T2 allows them to illuminate all the way down the concert hall stage, which is about 40 meters from the source.
The T1, originally intended for the FOH bridges of the concert hall, have been deployed in other positions around the venue, mostly on the forward bar with some on the side balcony positions, and the other four T2 have replaced the previous FOH positions. Los 18 Remaining T2 Profiles are in theater,
The concert hall offers a very varied entertainment program, ranging from symphony orchestra performances to baroque music, passing through pop and rock shows. Ballet is mainly performed in the theater., musicals and operas, and the different Amare spaces are also available for events, private and commercial rentals.
Approximately four shows a week are performed in both the concert hall and the theater., in addition to the tests, so the programming of both is constant and consistent.
Visiting companies have several options. They can use the complete equipment in the house - which also contains LED wash and other devices -, part of it or bring your own complete or partial productions.
The building control consoles are all ETC and the DMX combination is done through a red ACN.
Amare is a creative gem, modern and bright, that has brought a new dynamic to the city center. Everyone who works there and those associated with the project is thrilled to be back producing shows at full capacity for everyone to enjoy in this new post-pandemic climate..
“The Zuiderstrand Theater lighting team (the temporary location for the Amare during construction) was one of the first in the world to purchase the Robe T1 Profile in February 2019”, explains Kuno van Velzen of Controllux.
