Vioso brings the magic of Christmas to the largest inflatable dome in Latin America

Brazil's Mega Dome offers immersive Christmas show Viagem de Natal, in which they have been used 20 projectors Panasonic PT-DZ21K, the servers of Vioso and its Anystation Media software.

Vioso has incorporated its projection technology into a Christmas show that brings the Mega Domo, an inflatable immersive theater 60 meters in diameter, 30 height and capacity 2.000. An initiative that has transformed the Brazilian city of Canela for the festive season.

Inaugurated last 6 October, the Mega Dome hosts the largest immersive Christmas show in the world, Christmas trip, that combines videomapping, theater and music to tell Miguel's story, a young photographer spending Christmas away from his family for the first time.

Created by Edson Erdmann of Incredible Stories, the show, which lasts one hour and 20 minutes, It is possible thanks to Vioso technology that is used to create a continuous 360º projection on the interior walls of the dome.

Map a dome 180 m2

The largest inflatable structure in Latin America, that reaches the height of a ten-story building, has an internal space of 57.000 m³ and is kept inflated by fans that blow air at a distance of up to 100 km/h (62 mph).

Vioso's local partner, Hoffmann Technology, has used 20 Panasonic projectors as well as servers and Vioso Anystation Media software to produce the spectacular images of Viagem de Natal, which follows Miguel as he takes a fantastic journey aboard his childhood toy, a train.

Alan Leitão, technical manager of Hoffmann Technology, specified four Vioso Anystation Media 12, configured on two systems (hot spare master/client) for full redundancy, for installation, which took about a week to complete.

While media servers, that come with the software Pixera Vioso Edition, are responsible for high-resolution timecode-based playback for the Viagem de Natal program, Vioso software takes care of the complex calibration (Camera-based deformation and blending) necessary for a projection on the surface of more than 5.600 m² of the dome.

Each playback system consists of two main Vioso Anystation Media servers 12 to run all projectors, while a secondary system works in parallel, using precise timecode synchronization to provide a fully redundant backup solution, which can be changed during the program using a programmable video matrix.

In addition to servers, The Mega Dome is equipped with 20 projectors Panasonic PT-DZ21K, installed at various heights between 2,5 y 5,5 meters above the ground following the projector and lens placement design provided by Vioso, connected to the video signal with almost 3 km of fiber optic cables and HDMI matrix. Meanwhile, a sound system equipped with Dolby Atmos provides spatial audio soundtrack for maximum immersion.

In addition to breaking new ground in terms of scale, the Mega Dome adheres to strict environmental standards, with a new water treatment system, capable of purifying wastewater up to a 93 % on the site and the design of the dome that optimizes drainage towards the land on which it is built.

Complementing the main Mega Dome, a secondary dome (11,5×22 metros) houses the ticket office and lobby, while another area of 115 meters long houses a pizzeria, cafeteria and various spaces, ideal for Instagram fans.
