The technology of BrightSign has been used to drive a digital crystal cube of 4 square meters that rotates continuously in Pixoul Gaming, a new virtual reality center (RV) and esports in Abu Dhabi.
It is believed that the structure, created by Dubai-based digital media studio and systems integrator DigiComm, It is a world first for its size, weight and kinetics. Incorporates 38 media players BrightSign XD234 that feed synchronized content in 123 LG screens 55 y 49 inches.
In addition to being completely covered with screens, The large cube houses a waiting room that is also lined on all sides and above with digital screens. The installation weighs about 4 tons and can carry up to six people at a time.
The concept was devised by Paul Hamilton, CEO of Pixoul, and his team, and carried out by DigiComm after the custom media specialist won the project in a competition. Master the Pixoul lobby, full of atmosphere and color, and offers an immersive narrative experience to players who arrive at the premises.
Special effects
How Pixoul is a virtual reality attraction, It was important to create an impactful display that was representative of the games, which in themselves are largely invisible.
The exterior of the cube displays abstract sci-fi content created by DigiComm with BrightAuthor, that set the tone of the experience.
When you enter inside, Players watch a three-minute looped audiovisual production created by Robocom VR, Pixoul game designers. A virtual guide robot explains what to expect when visiting the world of Metaverso Pixoul and how to participate in the activities offered. When leaving, visitors find a part of the space different from the one they occupied when entering.
inside the cube, BrightSign players change the location of audio content at different points in the timeline, so it always comes from the figure of the robot, appear wherever it appears on the screen, making people turn to look in the right direction.
BrightSign Players
BrightSign players were selected not only for their special audio features, but also for its robustness, their ability to fit in a very compact space between two screens without the need for ventilation and the ease with which they can be synchronized with each other.
Besides, allow you to store all the contents within the cube itself, thus avoiding the need to transport media off the turntable via slip rings to a separate server room, which would have been much more complex and expensive.
“We are very proud of this installation. let us know, nothing like it had ever been done. A structure of this size and weight, spinning on a platform 6 meters with an error tolerance of 2 mm, with all the energy transport involved and everything synchronized across so many screens… It's quite an engineering feat.”, states Abdul Bakhrani, CEO of DigiComm.
The profitability of the proposed solution and the fact that they could offer a comprehensive service, which included the design, hardware and content, they decided on the project for DigiComm, who delivered it in just 45 days.
The platform and skeleton of the cube were manufactured in Dubai, while a team of seven people from DigiComm was responsible for system integration and content creation internally.
Ann Holland, Vice President of Marketing at BrightSign, declare: “Abdul Bakhrani and his team have set the bar high with this stellar project, as impressive from a technical as visual point of view.
