Glastonbury 2023 trusts Robe again to illuminate its stages
The moving lights of Robe have illuminated multiple scenes of the recent Festival Glastonbury 2023, including the three 'creative' areas’ keys to this enormous space dedicated to music in the United Kingdom.
The spectacular 360º stage Arcadia Spider, that 'throws' fire; the eclectic Park Stage, one of the most popular areas of Glastonbury, and of BBC Music, featuring some of music's rising stars have featured the manufacturer's lighting equipment Robe.
Theresa Gibson, Jefa Marketing Dress UK, “We remain excited to have, one more edition, our latest lighting equipment deployed in key scenes throughout the venue, including the new iPointe and iSpiider, with IP rating, which has been a first for the iconic Arcadia Spider”.
The family iSeries Robe's IP moving lights was a big hit in this scenario. The lighting setup was designed by Dave Cohen, from the design studio Mirad, and coordinated by the technical manager of Arcadia, Katie Davies.
The novelty this year has been the installation of nine iSpiders and the same number of iPointes, which were used in conjunction with twelve additional standard Pointe installed on the legs of the giant arachnid, and six more in her belly, to produce amazing dance floor effects in the audience space.
The nine iSpiders were installed on three podiums and used to illuminate the sky, accentuate the geometry and dynamics of the spherical performance zone that radiated from the center and to the performers.
The nine iPointes were placed on the six PA towers and three crane points to create night sky scanning effects., with super sharp beams clearly visible from all around. Added to them were about eighty customized LED architectural devices from Anoles, located in the metal structure of the spider, all controlled by your ArcPower system remotely.
As he emphasizes Katie Davies, “our partnership with Robe continues to thrive, allowing us the creative flexibility and technical certainty to bring out the best on stage Arcadia Spider. Your continued support is invaluable., both at Glastonbury and at our international shows”.
This year it was important to highlight the aspect renewable and sustainable of resources for the functioning of the spider, manufactured from recycled parts of military and industrial machinery. All of its generators ran on recycled biofuel, just like the famous flames that 'throws', which are now produced using refined used cooking oil, replacing propane gas from previous years.
“The spider has always been a symbol of positive change, transforming what was once a machine of war into a unifying totem. Now, with a recycled fuel source, “The same spirit of transformation runs through his veins.”, duck.
‘The Park’
Located at a privileged altitude on one of the festival's rolling hills, with panoramic views across the entire Worthy Farm grounds, the stage The Park It is one of the most interesting and creative areas of action, which has always managed to preserve its intimacy and cordiality since its inauguration in 2007.
Stage Production Lighting Specifications The Park included more than thirty Robe LedBeam 350; sweet Spiider Led wash beam and twelve MegaPointe, among other lights, under the design of Mat Spencer.
This year the lateral technical structures were improved with LedBeam luminaires 350, a decision based in part on feedback from numerous groups last year, and now they have had the power of this model.
The greatest challenge of lighting in The Park is to ensure that production equipment is optimized for the numerous visiting groups, who have a narrow window of time to prepare their show, although the introduction this year for the first time of a viewing room It has been very beneficial.
BBC Music
The chain's presentation stage BBC, where some of the best artists and future stars meet, has long been considered a hotbed of talent. Production lighting design incorporated more Robe moving lights, with twelve LedBeam 150; sweet LedBeam 350, all of them chosen for their small size and power, along with six Pointe and four PATT2013.
The LedBeams were an important part of the aesthetics of this stage, some mounted on vertical towers, with four around his front of the stage in footlight positions, and the same number on the truss for front lighting.
The six Pointe were located at the top of the towers, that curved around the back and sides of the stage, for rear lighting, silhouettes and antennas. The PATTs were very useful as stage lighting accessories and enhancing more intimate acoustic moments., also to facilitate behind-the-scenes shots.
