Magewell Modator: new range of modular IP conversion solutions

Magewell Modator

The new Modator family of Magewell Delivers the reliability and low-latency performance of the company's standalone encoders and decoders, in a high-density rack-mountable modular format.

Bridging traditional and IP-based workflows, Magewell offers in its new range Modator a modular solution, currently composed of four models with video connectivity IS, to which more will be added in the coming months.

The Modator family will make their debut during Magewell's participation in NAB Show 2024 (estand C6816), which will take place 14 al 17 April in Las Vegas (EU), with the presentation of the first modules assembled in the new chassis Modator 2U, Designed to fit standard rack deployments with slots for up to ten devices.

Each module Modator has its own network connectivity, can fanoint independently to convert baseband video/audio signals and IP streams, with a web-based management interface.

The Modator 2U rack and each installed module can also be configured, control and centrally monitor through management software Control Hub (optional) the Magewell.

Users can configure settings rack network and monitor the status of the chassis and installed modules in Modator 2 through the Led touch screen integrated 4.8” or web interface. The chassis has dual power supplies and with optimized thermal dissipation for a operation 24/7.

As pointed out James Liu, vp. Magewell Engineering, “as IP-based production and distribution deployments continue to grow in scale, Customers want a higher density form factor to take advantage of space. “The new Modator series offers our reliability and low latency performance in a scalable solution that meets this need.”.

Modelos Magewell Modator

  • Pro Convert HDMI Plus Module: Designed to encode HDMI input signals into high definition IP streams in the NDI High Bandwidth format.
  • Módulo Pro Convert HDMI 4K Plus: encodes HDMI input signals into NDI High Bandwidth with up to 4K resolution (4.096×2.160p) a 60 frames per second.
  • Módulo Pro Convert for NDI to HDMI: prepared to decode IP streams up to 2,560x1,440p in a wide range of formats (including NDI High Bandwidth, AND HX2, AND HX3, TVU ISSP and H.264 or H.265, sent via RTMP, RTSP, HLS, MPEG-TS and more) for HDMI output.
  • Pro Convert Module for NDI to AIO: with the same decoding functions as the Pro Convert module for NDI to HDMI, but with simultaneous HDMI and SDI outputs up to 1,080p60.
