Brompton presents at NAB 2024 the Tessera SQ200 8K Led video processor
At the fair that is being held in Las Vegas, NAB 2024, Brompton is previewing the third generation of its Led Gen video processing range 3, which is based on the latest Agilex FPGA technology 7 from Intel.
The first product of the gama Gen 3 of Brompton Technology is he 8K Tessera SQ200 processor, which is announced at this year's fair. Follow in the footsteps of the SX40, ofreciendo el mismo conjunto de funciones básicas y compatibilidad con sus paneles Led y las unidades de distribución de datos XD, but now with 8K and 4x4K workflows and added support for AV-over-IP protocols such as ST2110 and IPMX.
The SQ200 multiplies by 20 the power of the SX40, which makes it the most powerful 8K Led video processor in the world and guarantees ample room to continue innovating for many years.
Chris Deighton, CTO and co-founder of Brompton Technology, points out that the company “aims to offer products that meet real-world needs and are future-proof and ensure a great return on investment for our customers.”. According to this challenge, The SQ200 offers Ethernet connectivity of 100 GB to support 8K video over IP 60 fps y 12 bpc over a single cable. There is also a second Ethernet input. 100 Gb for a fully redundant video over IP network, that meets the requirements of the most demanding Brompton customers.
The '200’ of the product name is because it also has enormous Ethernet bandwidth of 200 Gb for output to Led panels. An Ethernet link 100 Gb is enough to control an 8K screen at 12 bpc y 60 fps, with a second Ethernet link 100 Gb to support fully redundant cabling. Besides, new data distribution units support fan-out from 100Gb to 10Gb and 1Gb Ethernet, allowing connections to Tessera R2 receiving cards, Existing R2+ and G1.
Another important innovation is support for irregular canvas sizes, which can extend up to 64K pixels in any dimension. This capability allows a single processor to manage displays that previously would have required multiple independent units..
“Thanks to its Agilex FPGA 7 latest generation, The SQ200 sets a new benchmark for performance and offers new opportunities for feature innovation”, continues Deighton, noting that many of the features now associated with the Tessera SX40 did not exist when the product was first released. “Things like dynamic calibration, HDR video support, frame remapping, ShutterSync and expanded bit depth added in free software updates, which is an important part of the way Brompton brings added value to its customers”.
TrueLight technology
As happened in the last edition of NAB, Brompton is showing the potential of its TrueLight technology. Panel manufacturers such as ROE Visual, INFiLED, Absent y AOTO have recognized the transformative potential of technology for film and television creatives and are presenting their next-generation RGBW Led panels with TrueLight at the show.
Cesar Caceres, Brompton product manager, highlights that “and NAB2023, Brompton presented its innovative TrueLight technology for the first time, a means to display video on LED panels using additional emitters, for example RGBW, maintaining full per-pixel color calibration and offering the user complete creative control. Adding additional controllable wide spectrum emitters can improve color rendering in situations where LED panels illuminate the foreground., as is often the case in virtual production and XR applications. TrueLight is an essential step in achieving unprecedented color reproduction and illuminating people and objects with greater realism”.
Patented TrueLight technology is based on a set of complex algorithms so intensive that they require the immense power of the Tessera G1 receiving card.
“ROE Visual was our first partner to announce a panel powered by TrueLight, showing your Carbon 5 RGBW and NAB2023″, Caceres continues. “With INFiLED following the launch of its RGBW panel at the end of last year, We are pleased to return to NAB with two other major panel manufacturers – Absen and AOTO – who have also developed RGBW panels powered by our TrueLight technology and will debut them at the show”.
