Renkus-Heinz helps reinvent hospitality in the heart of Manchester
In the hotel center of Manchester Printworks A digital ceiling of one thousand square meters has been installed that is accompanied by a sound system of Renkus-Heinz consisting of four ICL-F-RD models, six UBX8 speakers and two SX118 subwoofers.
Manchester Printworks is a hotel centre in the North of the UK, comprising bars, restaurants, leisure spaces and a cinema. Recently, a remodeling was carried out that has included the integration of the Europe's largest digital ceiling, with a total of one thousand square meters. The display uses augmented reality technology to display CGI content day and night, and a Renkus-Heinz sound system Envelops visitors in a world of entertainment.
CUK Group supported the project as a technical distributor, Working together with the integrator PAS Sound Engineering. The new PA system was necessary to support the content of the video wall, as well as the events held in the center, ranging from yoga classes to shows and parties. The speakers of the IC Live Gen5 Series and the UBX Series with directed beam from Renkus-Heinz offered the ideal audio solution.
“The UBX series features Passive UniBeam technology and we specify these models for the aisles that leave the center”, explains Mark Bromfield, Sales Director of System Solutions at CUK Group. "The beam steering capabilities of the IC Live Gen5 series also influenced our decision. Models have a look and feel, Excellent coverage and dispersion and deliver great audio quality and performance.".
When CUK demonstrated the IC Live Gen5 series on-site during the design phase of the project, They were instantly impressed. The on-site demonstration allowed the project team to verify the performance and quality of the sound and, at the same time, Take the opportunity to further explore the site and refine the design proposal. Working together with PAS Sound Engineering, CUK created schematic drawings and EASE modeling to provide optimal coverage for the venue. The system is made up of four models Renkus-Heinz ICL-F-RD, six UBX8 speakers and two SX118 subwoofers.
ICL-F-RD models are slim cabinets that integrate into almost any project. The display's audio system was to be mounted high and flat against the wall, which was achieved thanks to the active beam steering capability of the series. The beams of IC Live can be directed up or down while the array remains vertical and almost invisible.
The compact UBX8 models integrate the same beam steering technology in a passive column. Offering precise vertical pattern control and a combination of innovative features, UBX models provided consistent coverage throughout the Printworks complex.
“All speakers are independently powered”, Bromfield adds. "The ICL-F-RD are powered models, while amplifiers Powersoft Quattrocanali 2404 and 1204 control the two SX118s and the six UBX8 speakers. There are also Shotgun microphones with site-wide clock audio to monitor and adjust audio levels automatically in response to footfall in real-time. A Symetrix Prism 12×12 with Dante for DSP and audio system control throughout the venue, distributing signals to Renkus-Heinz IC Live Gen5 loudspeakers and Powersoft amplifiers".
Likewise, CUK and PAS Sound Engineering integrated a Symetrix T-10 touchscreen panel that houses a custom GUI, giving site personnel intuitive control of the entire system. They can change presets to different modes and control audio streams and volume for the specific needs of certain events. More commands can be sent through a server Green Hippo that is used to synchronize the audio with the content of the screen.
