Linea Research provides sound to KingPins in the Arndale center

A distributed and zoned audio system has been installed in this Manchester leisure center that integrates a mix of mid-high speakers from 8, 10 y 12 inches, backed by subwoofers 12, 15 y 18 inches of Research line.

The newly inaugurated KingPins in it Arndale Center the Manchester (the largest establishment to date in the UK sports venue brand's complex, Roxy Leisure) has opted once again for the Linea Research amplifiers.

Audioserv, based in Leeds, Group audio supplier and integrator for over a decade, has installed a distributed and zoned audio system, intelligently powered and controlled by a Linea Research amplification system and Symmetrix.

The founder and CEO of Audioserv, Pete Rollinson, explains how the audio of the new Kin Pins followed a similar pattern to its sister brand's venues across the UK, con distributed audio throughout the premises, from the front door to the farthest play area and bathrooms.

“Having worked on all Roxy and KingPins sites so far, overall audio specs are very similar. There is no stage, so there is no specific approach for audio. Some areas will be noisier than others, but it must be coherent and sound as good as possible within the spaces we are working with.”.

The system for KingPins Manchester comprises a mix of mid-high speakers from 8, 10 y 12 inches, backed by subwoofers 12, 15 y 18 inches in main areas, with compact speakers 4 inches wall mounted covering bathroom areas.

To maximize floor space, but also to help with temporal alignment, all subwoofers and speakers are hung throughout the zoned venue.

For each speaker used in the venues, Rollinson has created preset files that include crossover filter, equalization and limiting. “He amplifiers DSP Linea Research makes it very easy to group them together. It's very easy to drag and drop files into DSP modules and group them, so I can build the enclosure in Symmetrix so that it is easy for the enclosure to control”.

For Rollinson, The simplicity of the design is enhanced by the sound quality of Linea Research, its flexibility and the minimum amount of rack space required. “Switching to Linea Research allowed us to halve the space required for rack amplifiers at the Roxy Leisure complex, while adding more power channels”.

“We have used Linea Research in many of our installations now, and all our rentals are Line. Amplifiers provide so much functionality that challenges we once had to overcome in the past are now elegantly handled through standard operating procedure.. Having full DSP available on each output means there are no longer trade-offs on where DSP resources are used”.
