Trilogy Studios manages its PV infrastructure with Stage Precision
With facilities of 9.144 m2, distributed in three spaces dedicated to virtual production, Trilogy Studios have trusted the software Stage Precision to manage data between each of the studies.
The North American company's complex virtual production infrastructure Trilogy Studios has counted on the integrator during the design phase Optic8 and the engineer Roman Schoissengeier-Nagel to “create a unified control solution in the three stages. Each one required a high precision camera tracking and the ability to incorporate dynamic content, taking advantage of tools like Unreal Engine y Pixera. “It was also essential to build a system that could handle complex shoots.”.
The team developed the production infrastructure for the three sets de Trilogy Studios, each one adapted to specific production needs. The study 1, the biggest, is equipped with a Led screen of 47 meters long and 2 high, that provides the scale and scope needed to complex immersive scenes.
The study 2, dedicated car ad processing, is endowed with six mobile Led walls and five motorized ceiling screens, and the study 3, is dedicated to commercial productions.
To manage all the elements, it has been decided to install the software SP of Stage Precision, offering a tracking and data solution in each of the studies, in which the system is also used OptiTrack.
The study 2 is the one that uses the SP capacity the most to manage multi-screen tracking of your mobile LED systems and freeze screen positions for more precise adjustments.
Beyond standard SP features, such as advanced lens calibration, data visualization and manipulation, Its ability to unify control and data across all three studios has been a “radical change at Trilogy Studios.”, as the engineer Schoissengeier-Nagel points out.
The connection between the three studies Virtual production allows customers test content on a smaller scale before moving on to the main cinematic stage, which increases efficiency. “If they are filming in the studio 1, They don't have to stop filming to test something - explains this manager -. They can move the content to 3 and experiment there”.
The tool Gateway by Stage Precision, allowing remote control of Windows devices directly from the SP software, has also been essential for access render nodes of the three sets.
“We use a centralized NAS to store Unreal Engine content and, with some custom coding, we can distribute this content to the different nodes. Using SP with Gateway allows us to run scripts and download content to nodes remotely, which is a great advantage when managing several systems”, concludes Schoissengeier-Nagel.
