A Berlin restaurant enriches its menu with the sound of Genelec

In the heart of Berlin's Mitte district, Monsieur Vuong is a family restaurant that has brought authentic Vietnamese cuisine to the German capital. Directed by brothers Dat and Tan Vuong, together with family friend Andreas Bodenstein, Serves fresh, easy-to-share dishes in a lively, welcoming atmosphere, very popular among modern Berliners. To further enhance this cozy atmosphere, The management team recently decided to renew the restaurant's sound system, y, for it, They turned to Genelec.

“I worked in the film industry, where Genelec was the reference in audio post production. In my opinion, The simplicity and sound quality of its speakers are unmatched”, explica Bodenstein. “I wanted the restaurant to benefit from that same sound, while being easy to use and maintain, in addition to being extremely reliable, since the system works uninterruptedly during 12 hours a day”.

Bodenstein also understood the flexibility that networked audio would bring to the restaurant, So he decided to investigate further..

“To find the right solution, We visited the Genelec experience center in Berlin for a comprehensive listening test. We focus our planning on speaker placement, signal distribution and the ability to control sound in an environment where background noise constantly fluctuates”.

After evaluating several options, Tan Vuong and Bodenstein concluded that altavoces Genelec 4420 Smart IP offered the perfect solution for your needs.

“The Genelec team explained that this model combines the power and flexibility of Smart IP technology in a compact format., which makes it ideal for the small space of the restaurant, “no need for analog wiring or external power amplifiers”, affirmed Bodenstein. “A strong point for us was the single-cable PoE technology of these networked speakers., which means that the installation and configuration of the system was much simpler than with a traditional solution”.

Eight speakers have been installed for this project. 4420 in the dining room, all configured with Genelec Smart IP Manager software. They also have two Windows music servers (one main and one backup) to distribute audio to the network using virtual Dante sound cards.

The daily schedule is controlled by the software MairList, which are also used by radio stations, which is especially useful in the restaurant, since different programming is required for day and night.

It is used Dante Controller for speaker array, making it easy to replace and reconfigure in the event of failure. In addition, There is also a small controller Axon TCP/IP for staff to adjust volume based on customer flow.

The installation has been the finishing touch to everything the Vuong family set out to achieve. “We wanted to create an immersive and welcoming dining experience. Running a successful restaurant is not just about the food, but to create the right environment”, explains Tan Vuong.

Modern aesthetic, traditional decoration

The red lacquered walls, adorned with evocative photographs, create the perfect environment, while the rhythmic clatter of the open kitchen adds a true soundtrack to the dining experience.

“Given the challenges of installing sound in a restaurant without optimal acoustic design, Genelec speakers have proven to be a very adaptable solution”, comenta Vuong. “Our entire system works automatically with very little intervention on our part, and the sound quality constantly impresses us”.
