M-Cube Palmanova

Equipped inside with ultra-thin Led screens, with pixel pitch 1,5 mm, spatial sound and ground vibrations, this immersive digital elevator created by M-Cube offers visitors a unique experience to get to know the Majorcan city of Palmanova.

Discover the historic Majorcan city of Palmanova, World Heritage Site UNESCO, from a immersive digital elevator It is now possible thanks to the project carried out by M-Cube, designed by Roberto Maffioli and developed in collaboration with the LED screen specialist Videomobile.

Built with Led panels on all walls, spatial sound and ground vibrations, This innovative elevator offers tourists “a new way to explore culture: effortless, with an immersive and totally unexpected experience”, as they point out from M-Cube.

M-Cube PalmanovaFrom this immersive digital elevator, visitors have a unique and innovative way to discover Palmanova, from a perspective that Previously it was only possible through aerial photography.

This installation gives its users the feeling of rising above the historic star-shaped city and offers a complete view of its fortifications, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, turning cultural narrative into an unforgettable digital journey.

The concept combines technology and heritage to create an immersive attraction where, instead of showing the city using static images or maps, the elevator gives life to its geometry through the motion, light and sound.

“This experience invites visitors to feel the structure of Palmanova, not just to see it -they explain from M-Cube-. As a result, generates an emotional and novel connection with its story”.

Simulate flight on a fixed structure

Play the sensation of vertical movement, no real lift, represented an obvious challenge to carry out this project. The goal was to offer visitors the thrill of takeoff and, finally, of the flight over the city, all within a fixed installation.

M-Cube PalmanovaThe illusion created with screens, the sound and vibrations had to feel real from the first moment for the visitors. At the same time, the installation had to be segura, stable and accessible for everyone.

Besides, the experience had to be fluid, credible and immersive. It also had to work daily, enduring the continued use by the public. Achieving realism without resorting to complex mechanical systems required that each visual and sensory stimulus work in perfect harmony..

“We create a complete digital experience, designed with precision to simulate both ascent and air movement - they point out from M-Cube -. The structure was specifically built to resemble a real elevator, offering visitors a familiar starting point. From the outside, “Custom graphics draw attention and guide users inside”.

Once the doors close, the transformation begins. The interior of the cabin is surrounded by 24 m2 of ultra-thin high-definition Led screens, with a step of pixel 1,5 mm, covering three vertical walls and part of the elevator floor, enveloping the visitor with dynamic images that recreate the sensation of movement.

As the virtual elevator ascends, the view changes smoothly from ground level to offer visitors a stunning aerial perspective of Palmanova's iconic star shape.

M-Cube Palmanova“To increase realism, we create a fully controlled environment. The temperature remains pleasant throughout the experience, while an audio system accompanies every moment of the trip. Sounds evolve with images, giving the impression of acceleration and flight”, they assure from M-Cube.

Besides, a vibrating platform under the visitor's feet provides tactile feedback. Simulates the takeoff of an elevator and gradually transforms into the vibrant rhythm of a helicopter in flight. This movement is perfectly synchronized with audio, reinforcing immersion in each phase.

To complete the immersive visitor experience, real elevator doors have been installed, so that they really feel that they are rising as if they were going through the different floors of a building, although they never leave the ground and without interruptions.

This immersive digital elevator allows each visitor fully experience Palmanova geometry, something that was previously only possible with aerial views, in addition to removing physical barriers and making the city's unique design accessible to people of all ages and abilities.

The new facility transforms passive tourism into a much more memorable experience. Visitors no longer just observe, but they actively participate and their discovery becomes emotional, sensory and unforgettable.

The project connects cultural heritage with technological and modern tourism innovation, “demonstrating that historic towns can adopt digital participation without losing their identity. This immersive elevator enriches the visit, reinforces the narrative of the city and offers a moment worth sharing”, they say from M-Cube.
