In the heart of the medieval Gamla Stan district, in Stockholm, one of the oldest restaurants in the world, he Golden Peace, offers a taste of traditional Swedish cuisine. Since its opening in 1722, has given its diners a gourmet dining experience and a glimpse into Stockholm's history. However, until recently, lacked a sound system to complement its classic ambiance. Now you have the speakers Genelec Smart IP as an audio solution to retain its timeless charm.
The owners of Gyldene Freden turned to specialists in installation and control of We Make Noise to set up the system. “Genelec was the obvious choice for us”, states Emil Varley, who directed the installation for We Make Noise. “We believe that there are very few brands that can offer a speaker as compact and complete as the model 4420 Smart IP, and that's just what we needed. Besides, “The owners already knew this manufacturer”.
Given the historical character of the building, acoustic problems were inevitable. “The restaurant occupies several floors and the possibilities of installing new wiring are very limited, a traditional sound installation was unthinkable”, explains Varli. “However, We were able to leverage an existing data network and implement a Dante-based solution for zone and source management”.
For installations like this, where aesthetics are as important as functionality, Smart IP speakers are an essential solution thanks to their single-cable configuration. The feeding, Audio and control are delivered over a single CAT cable to reduce the need for intrusive wiring. “The use of Smart IP allowed us to achieve an elegant installation and an excellent sound system with relatively little wiring to distract from the beauty of the restaurant”, Varli adds..
Meetech, Swedish audio and video provider, took charge of project management, commissioning and programming of the Smart IP system. “The system, based on a BSS platform it has been extended with Dante and is equipped with local volume control panels in each zone”, explains Martin Marten, technology director of Meetech. “Are you ready to active subwoofers with adapters Dante Married, allowing for flexibility or future upgrades. “Music playback is done through two Sonos Port units.”.
Although the historical character of the building presented some initial complexities, The final installation resulted in a streamlined and easy-to-use solution for staff on a daily basis..
“During start-up, “Genelec Smart IP Manager software was invaluable”, Marten adds.. “It made it easy to identify and configure each speaker. Everything was done quickly and efficiently”.
Fourteen speakers have been installed in the premises 4420 in the corners of the ceiling using adjustable wall brackets 8000-422 de Genelec, painted in a range of colors that matched the unique decor of each room.
“We just needed a active subwoofer 7050, located where the dance floor would be located, complemented by two speakers 4430 larger for greater impact. If we had chosen another manufacturer, “Without a doubt we would have had to add subwoofers in several areas to achieve the same audio quality”, Varli continues.
Integrated with Gyldene Freden walls, Speakers create a serene atmosphere reminiscent of the restaurant's iconic history.
“Gyldene Freden has always been much more than just food”, concluye Karl Törngren, current restaurant owner.
