WAH Show Madrid, one of the most unique shows in the capital, has opened a new stage with a comprehensive renovation of its lighting by the hand of Stonex, distributor in Spain of brands like Ayrton, ETC and Oxo.

Since its premiere six years ago, WAH has established itself as an experience that combines gastronomy, music and party in three acts: a Food Hall with flavors from the world and live performances, a Theater where great hymns take on new life and an Aftershow that turns the space into a dance floor.

So that every moment shines brightly, The Stonex team has deployed more than 200 luminaires designed to offer power, dynamism and versatility.

Juanjo Beloqui, lighting designer and technical manager of the show, was key in shaping the new visual language of the show. “The trust that these brands give me is essential. I know I can count on the reliability of spotlights for fast and precise effects, with the versatility of others to outline any scene and with the power of other equipment to fill the space with color and energy”.

In this update we have used 80 equipment Ayrton (14 Mini panel, 30 Diablo, 24 Kyalami y 12 Mistral), 90 of ETC (41 ColorSource Spot V, 33 Fresnel V y 16 Source Four Zoom) y 84 of Oxo (34 Pixyline, 10 Colorblind y 40 Colorbeam).

Each family of luminaires was selected for their qualities. Ayrton's Diablo and Mistral took over from previous teams to provide strength and reach on the main stage. The Kyalami replaced former Spots, offering a leap in beam quality and power. The Minipanel were incorporated into the disco and chill-out area, where its compact size, The flexible zoom and the possibility of creating graphic effects brought rhythm to each show.

ETC ColorSource Spot V and Fresnel V ensure versatile and uniform key lighting, with precise cropping and smooth transitions. Finally, lass Pixyline, Oxo's Colorbeam and Colorblind provided dynamism in the public areas and turned the venue into a canvas in constant movement of color.

The coordination of so many teams required an exhaustive pre-programming process in the studio with visualizers, where color palettes were defined, gobo rhythms and dynamic sequences. Later, The rehearsals in Madrid served to adjust times, intensities and attenuation curves, making the light breathe to the rhythm of the show.

“The biggest challenge was orchestrating such a large number of luminaires under the same visual language.”. The key was in dosing: create atmospheres with Fresnels and bars, Reserve ‘wow’ moments with the beams and always keep an ace up your sleeve to surprise”, explain to Beloqui.

An immersive show

The result of this renovation is a more vibrant and immersive WAH Show Madrid. Each luminaire plays its role and reinforces the emotional narrative of the show, from intimate atmospheres to maximum energy climaxes.

For Stonex, This project is an example of how the right technology and collaboration between designers, technical equipment and production can raise a proposal.

The new lighting design not only responds to technical challenges, but rather it enhances the magic of a show that is already a reference in the Spanish audiovisual panorama.
