L-Acoustics Bozar

Brussels' main cultural destination has been associated with XLR to deliver an immersive hyper-realistic sound experience with the L-ISA system from L-Acoustics, transforming the way audiences connect with live music.

Almost a century after the Belgian architect Victor Horta will design its impressive spaces, the legendary Brussels Palace of Fine Arts, known in the Belgian capital as spoils, has made history again. The sala Henry Le Boeuf, with capacity for 2.150 personas, now boasts of having a permanent sound system: an installation L-Acoustics L-ISA Hyperreal Sound, composed of his high performance L series.

This prestigious European cultural venue debuted this state-of-the-art sound system last 2 September, with the coordination of Nicolas Bernus, Bozar technical production director, and the performance of the Belgian National Orchestra and the artist Sylla.

“The new sound system is designed specifically for the Bozar non-classical music programming -explains Aurore Aubouin, music director of Bozar-. This fall, we are proud to welcome Sigur Rós; Kae Tempest; Bob Dylan Zaho of Sagazan and Scylla with BNO, among many other world-class artists. This installation also It is a strategic investment: by having our own permanent system, we no longer need to rent equipment, which allows us to offer an experience of the highest quality”.

L-ISA Immersive Technology

The basis of this update is L-Acoustics' L-ISA technology., which allows sound engineers position individual instruments and voices with pinpoint precision throughout the listening area.

In collaboration with the certified supplier XLR from L-Acoustics and the integrator Art, those responsible for Bozar decided to go beyond traditional stereo configurations and delve into the future of immersive audio.

“While the initial request was for a traditional stereo setup, It became clear that the best option was invest in hyperrealistic sound -points out Louis Lukusa, CEO of XLR-. The L-Acoustics L-series system in L-ISA configuration is the only solution that offers tonal balance, “Unmatched clarity and realism in every seat in the room”.

L-Acoustics BozarThis new sound system “transforms the way audiences enjoy music in Bernus -. L-ISA spatial audio technology allows us create a frontally realistic soundscape, where every detail of the performance is reproduced with stunning clarity and depth. It is a great advance that aligns us with the highest international standards, guaranteeing that our audience enjoys an unparalleled listening experience”.

The technical achievement is as impressive as it is elegant. Using the Soundvision modeling software, the team mapped the coverage of each seat along the curved geometry of the auditorium and its multiple balconies. Final configuration includes five hung L2D speakerss, along with dos subwoofers KS28 Hung in the center to deliver powerful bass without overwhelming the natural acoustics of the room.

The strategic location of two Syva cabinets and another pair of Syva Lows on the edges of the stage expands the sound spectrum for orchestra seats, while a network of fifteen 5XT compact boxes, carefully distributed along the edge of the stage and the fronts of the balconies, guarantees a crystal clear intelligibility even in the first rows.

The entire L-Acoustics sound system is powered by LA7.16i amplified controllers, LA7.16 and LA12X providing wide dynamic range and precision across the entire frequency range.

“Soundvision is the key to success when designing this type of projects,” says Lukusa.. It all starts with him; is he first and most important step in the L-Acoustics ecosystem. Thanks to our extensive experience in the design and installation of your systems, we know we can trust this software: “what we see is what we will hear”.

Challenges overcome

The vibrant acoustics of the Henry Le Bœuf hall has always been a challenge for sound engineers, but the new Factor system of the L series has turned this challenge into an advantage, as it offers impeccable intelligibility and uniform coverage to the last row, without raising sound pressure levels or unnecessarily altering the natural reverberation of the room.

“The L-Acoustics L Series handles Bozar's diverse programming effortlessly.; whether classical music productions, pop, rock, jazz o urbana, the system adapts instantly. Its easy implementation offers valuable time savings, and L-ISA processor control tools adapt it to any configuration. “We can switch from a hyper-realistic immersive system to a stereo setup with a single click.”, the Lord's.

L-Acoustics BozarThe installation had the Support from L-Acoustics Applications Team, who collaborated with XLR from initial design to final calibration. Training was crucial, since the Bozar technical staff carried out specific courses at the educational center from this manufacturer to ensure complete mastery of your new sonic tool.

The investment does not end here. Bozar and XLR are already preparing to extend the immersive experience to room M of the fence, who will receive a 360° immersive system A10 early next year, creating a comprehensive ecosystem of cutting-edge audio technology.

“It is a long-term investment.”. By offering artists, producers and audiences the most advanced sound system available, “Bozar has positioned itself at the international forefront”, concludes Lukusa.
