Lightware reinforces its Taurus UCX family with the introduction of the new HC60 line
The new HC60 product line from Lightware offers a major hardware upgrade over existing HC40 models, an improvement that has become necessary due to recent technological advances and the evolution of the supply chain.
All UCX-HC40 and DCX models will be replaced one by one by a new HC60 version, what will mean total disappearance of all HC40 models. The manufacturer assures that both “Users and integrators can be assured that capabilities and functionality will remain unchanged.”. However, the new HC60 range offers greater availability of products, long term compatibility and a improved performance.
Gergely Vida, CEO of Lightware, highlights that “The new HC60 product line represents our commitment to anticipating the needs of the meeting rooms and learning environments of the future.. With improved performance, simplified setup and improved compatibility, Integrators can save time while delivering better, future-proof experiences to end users”.
The HC60 platform introduces several key improvements hardware compared to the HC40, which include a better video handling, and high speed Gigabit Ethernet switch for faster network performance and modern connectivity with dual USB-C ports on the device side that replace the previous USB-A interfaces. Now it is also supports screen stream compression (DSC), what allows 4K@60 2-lane with minimal compression. These improvements provide a higher bandwidth, reliability and compatibility in current audiovisual environments.
Factory defaults have also been improved for streamline setup and strengthen security. All HC60 models now support 5K video output by default, which offers an impressive 5120x2160 resolution 30 Hz 4:4:4 o 60 Hz 4:2:0 via HDMI 2.0. HC60 supports HTTPS and features smarter signal behavior, such as HDMI 5V which tracks the presence of input, HDCP disabled on inputs for simplified integration, plus USB and audio that follow the active video source. Additional improvements include LARA automation enabled by default and a USB-C BYOD port that now defaults to Power Role: Source for greater device compatibility.
With faster network performance, Native USB-C peripheral connectivity and 5K video output, provides corporate or educational environments with the basis for BYOD meeting spaces prepared for the future. Schools and campuses benefit from simplified installation, USB audio management and LARA-ready setup, providing seamless classroom integration.
Cyber resilience
Besides, Lightware's new HC60 product line, which includes the DCX-3×1-HC21 and related models, now ships with a unique factory generated password and printed directly on each device. After a factory reset, the unit reverts to this original password, which prevents removal of password based protection.
This update meets the requirements of the Cyber Resilience Law (CRA) of the EU, by eliminating universal default passwords and ensuring strong, device-specific security. In the future, this practice of safe labeling will be expanded to other Lightware product families.
Since all HC60 products fully conform to existing HC40 specifications, tenders and public plans in progress remain valid without the need to redesign or update documentation. The exception to this is Lightware's Dual Screen Taurus products., that will remain unchanged.
“The launch of the HC60 series marks another milestone in our continued commitment to providing secure systems, flexible and high performance worldwide. As technological demands accelerate, our partners can stay at the forefront of next-generation collaboration spaces”, concludes Life.
