Lawo unifies audio and video I/O on Edge One

Theirs presenta Edge One, an all-in-one solution that provides professional-grade audio and video connectivity in a single, scalable stage box, customizable and flexible.

The ProAV and broadcast industry, which requires increasingly greater agility and capacity for adaptation, is facing a growing challenge from a configuration point of view. According to the team Theirs, “technical complexity” grows faster than productions themselves, making the configuration processes of the different devices require greater management efforts.

Given this context, Theirs has followed a strategy based on simplification of processes. Thus, The German firm has promoted platforms such as Home, that allows complete infrastructures to be managed centrally, o VSM, environment that makes it easy to create custom workflows. Added to this is Home Apps, Scalable solutions that move audio and video processing to standard hardware-based environments that allow users to start with basic configurations and scale up progressively; all, allowing you to choose between environments on-premises, hybrid or cloud, adapting to every need.

Despite these advances, The challenge of offering convergence between input and output interfaces in the same device persisted. (I/O / E/S) audio and video, which were solved by the Lawo team with independent solutions such as .edge, the series A__line o PowerCore. Looking ahead to NAB 2026, The company launches an all-in-one solution that addresses this problem: Edge One.

Edge One: “A device, “infinite solutions”

The new Edge One It is defined as a single device designed to manage and convert audio and video signals from the same platform. Its architecture, based on licenses that can be activated in real time, allows addressing a wide variety of applications: from facilities ProAV to broadcast environments, passing through uses of stage box or even sound management for administrations.

With support for multiple video formats, including HDMI, SDI, SMPTE 2110 without compression and JPEG XS, Edge One offers advanced capabilities video and audio processing and routing, including embedding y de-embedding. Other key features are its integrated USB audio interface; features like Automix, for mixture optimization; a flexible network connectivity, which goes from 1 until 25 Carry; compatibility with standards such as NMOS, and feeding through PoE++.

To facilitate its deployment, Edge One comes standard in three base packages, that support additional functionality through perpetual or flexible software licenses. The version aimed at audio comes with an audio interface module (available in three versions),
MADI audio I/O with sample rate conversion, DSP audio, GPI I/O and copper streaming ports, fiber and multigigabit. The video option provides up to 8 video inputs or outputs (SDI y/o HDMI), GPI I/O and copper streaming ports, fiber and multigigabit. Finally, the optional AV comes with an audio interface module, E/S of MADI audio, DSP audio, until 8 video inputs or outputs (SDI y/o HDMI), GPI I/O and copper streaming ports, fiber and multigigabit

Edge One has been developed with the aim of simplifying workflows and facilitating the infrastructure scalability.
