EPS opts for spatial sound over stereo in a tribute to Pink Floyd
Just a few days after attending training sessions on the campus of Nexus in France, the team of Event Production Services (EPS), based in Oxford, deploys Nexo DME10 immersive audio processor for 'The Delicate Sound of Pink Floyd' tribute concerts’ at Radley College, Abingdon.
The three concerts held during the weekend of 27 y 28 March they had a Fully immersive Sound xR sound, with the FOH engineer Asa Holbrook, of Signature AV, mixing more than 60 entries in one Yamaha DM7 in 30 signals for DME10, that generated a 3D object-based mixing Sound xR Image to 21 speakers, distributed over a public address system FOH Nexo GEO M6, the fillings of Nexo ID24 surround sound / IDS110 and border fills Nexus P12, with amplification and processing by the controllers Nexo NXAMP Powered TD.
The monitor mix, including in-ears for the eleven members of the band, was borne by the owner of EPS, Robert Nisbet, along with video signals, while Tom Russell, of Trussell Tech, took care of most of the DME setup. Cameron Blue dealt with the design and operation of the lighting with lasers supplied by Reach Lasers.
“The tribute market has more than its share of Pink Floyd groups, so when we started working with The Delicate Sound of Pink Floyd, We knew we had to offer something extra to stand out”, recognizes Nisbert after the final show.
“The band is a group of incredibly talented musicians., But to gain a foothold in this saturated market, they knew how essential it would be to have a USP.. When we suggest trying an immersive audio setup, the band supported us a lot, giving us total freedom in the treatment of the show”.
“With such a short preparation period to develop our plans, We didn't want to cover too much., but Nexo's support allowed us to offer a show that exceeded our own expectations: It is not common to see the front-of-house engineer dancing on the seats with excitement after having achieved a first in the United Kingdom!!, emphasizes Nisbert.
