Christie has presented the world's first screening of a feature film in 4K DLP Cinema resolution to members of the Hollywood community. Held at the famous Mann Chinese Theater in Hollywood, California, the screening of the restored film 'With Death on His Heels'’ has been carried out during the SMPTE annual technical conference.

Held at the famous Mann Chinese Theater in Hollywood, California, The screening took place during the annual technical conference of the technical association Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE). The 4K presentation on a Christie Solaria CP4230 projector showed Alfred Hitchcock's classic With death on our heels, which was meticulously restored at the Warner Bros Motion Picture Imaging studio (MPI) through a process that included the highest scanning resolution available. The film was played through a Doremi Cinema Integrated Media Block. “The public has been able to see details in the 4K restoration that are unlike anything seen before”, commented Brian Claypool, Senior Product Director, Christie Entertainment Solutions Division. “It is not easy to showcase a new technology in front of an audience of engineers and technicians who belong to each of the disciplines of the film industry.. Getting such a positive reaction from them is proof that superior 4K has arrived., and Christie's 4K DLP Cinema solution meets high industry standards in image quality for spectacular 2D and 3D presentations”, Claypool cheered.. New line of Christie Solaria™ 4K digital cinema projectors features Texas Instruments' Enhanced 4K DLP Cinema chip (OF) (NYSE: TXN) and is designed to be compatible with DCI specifications (Digital Cinema Initiatives). It is the first 4K DLP Cinema projection system that was publicly demonstrated at IBC in September 2010 and released on ShowEast several weeks ago, when Christie started taking orders.
