The Ministry of Culture has launched a new free augmented reality application that allows GPS location and interaction with 8.215 Spanish libraries via mobile.
The Ministry of Culture, through the General Subdirectorate of Library Coordination, has presented a free augmented reality application that allows access to the basic information of any of the 8.215 Spanish public libraries. The application is available for iPhone smartphones, Android and Symbian and works through Layar, a well-known GPS geolocation platform that provides its services to third parties.
The Layar augmented reality browser is installed on the mobile and allows you to locate points close to the position of the device. So, by selecting the 'Libraries' layer’ a Layar, We can locate the libraries closest to where we are and obtain their contact information.
About the image captured by the phone camera, The application superimposes icons in real time that reveal the position of public libraries that are less than a distance away. 5 km. Clicking on one of them, A tab is displayed with the physical address of the library, your email and phone. Besides, calculates the shortest route to it from the user's position.
What makes this geopositioning service original is that the points of interest (THEN) can be displayed in list form, on a map or on an image of reality, captured via mobile device camera (augmented reality).
