LABoral and Hangar experiment with the relationship between art and telepresence
The visual arts production center located in the Poblenou neighborhood of Barcelona, Hangar, and LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial de Gijón have scheduled between the days 9 y 15 December a simultaneous workshop on telepresence, in which it seeks to generate a space for experimentation with new technologies in this field that implies remote presence and provides the person with the feeling of being physically in another place from a scene created by computer.
The penetration of new technologies in art is growing and constant. LABoral Center for Art and Industrial Creation of Gijón and Hangar, visual arts production center that carries out its activity in Poblenou, in Barcelona, They organize between the days 9 y 15 December a simultaneous workshop on telepresence that has the support of the Ministry of Culture.
The workshop is aimed at creators who are interested in the development of relationships between art and telepresence, fertile in areas such as dance or performances, to give just two examples. “We seek to generate a space for experimentation with new technologies in this field, which implies remote presence and gives the person the sensation of being physically in another place from a computer-created scene”, have explained from the Art Center.
This workshop is coordinated by José Luis Marzo, professor at the Elisaba School of the Pompeu Fabra University, exhibition curator and writer; Intact Proyect, group dedicated to cyberculture; Minipimer.tv, an experimental Internet video laboratory in real time and with free software, in addition to Marcel-lí Antúnez, considered one of the most relevant artists of electronic art and scenic experimentation.
Over a week, in sessions of 10 from the morning to six in the afternoon, Participants will work on opening different spaces from which to intervene remotely through experimentation with tools that allow interactive communication through data exchange, the alteration of sensory and environmental conditions, remote control systems or the creation of virtual spaces from augmented reality.
The last day of the workshop, the day 15, between the 19 and the 21 hours, Presentations will be made to the public in an open session. The LABoral Centro de Arte working group will be formed by Materia Viva, Manhauser, Madame Cell, Casicasiotone, Paula Pin and Fernando Vallesa.
