LCD display and projection solutions provider NEC Display Solutions has announced that it is updating its Series 2 of digital projectors (NC1200C, NC2000C and NC3200S) to accommodate high frame rate movies (HFR).

NEC Display Solutions Europe is preparing for the introduction of high frame rate (HFR) in the digital cinema industry with the modernization of its projectors to support this new format.

NEC has carried out software development within its Series projectors 2 (NC1200C, NC2000C and NC3200S) with the release of the version 3.3. This allows the projectors to be compatible with the HFR format with IMB input, that allows 60 frames per second in 2D and 3D and 48 frames per second in Dual Flash 3D leading to faster movement, providing sharper and much smoother images.

Great Hollywood directors such as James Cameron and Peter Jackson support the HFR format, which will probably be available at the end of 2012. New films like 'The Hobbit' and the Avatar sequels are very likely to be produced at HFR, enhancing the movie experience for movie lovers.

This HFR technology will also be available on the NEC 4K NC3240S projector in April 2012.

Gerd Kaiser, Product Line manager for large venue projectors from NEC Display Solutions, has commented that “high frame rate movies are going to completely change the cinematographic experience.”, taking it to a whole new level. “We are happy to offer our customers this important update to ensure the technology of tomorrow today.”.
