VIA adds support for Android on its x86 platforms
VIA has expanded its support for the Android operating system to all its x86 motherboards, starting with the small EITX-3002. The platform now supports Android 2.2, Windows 7, Windows 7 Embedded Standard, Windows XP and Linux Debian and is intended for multiple integrated applications, among which is digital signage.
VIA has announced that it will integrate support for Android into its x86 platforms for embedded systems, starting with the new EITX-3002 boards. The company has pointed out that the possibility of using Android in this integrated design allows greater flexibility for the use of this operating system in sections such as digital signage., points of sale, ATMs or car entertainment systems, inter alia.
Epan Wu, head of the VIA Embedded Platform division of VIA Technologies, Inc., has assured that “VIA has a long tradition of offering a wide range of options and tailored solutions for our customers.. Adding support for Android operating systems to our embedded x86 platforms adds greater flexibility and further expands our ability to meet your needs.”.
